Zambia's Eastern Province lies along the southern and eastern sides of Zambia's eastern 'bulge'. It contains the Laungwa Valley, one of the best game areas in the country, and the South Luangwa National Park and Lukusuzi National Park.

The bustling town of Chipata (meaning 'gateway') is the capital of the Eastern Province and surrounded on all sides by hills.
