This is the closest most Zambians will ever get to a seaside town or resort. The town has spectacular views of the Kariba Dam wall and of the gorgeous human-made lake itself.
Unfortunately the game in the area was hunted out a long time ago but there is still excellent fishing to be enjoyed with record size Tigerfish lurking in the waters.
There is a crocodile farm a few kilometres outside of Siavonga, where you can view the small, beady eyed future handbags and shoes. This a magnificent region for baobab trees and an even better one for roadside stalls. These sell an assortment of handmade baskets ranging from small and decorative to large utilitarian baskets.
Also found here is the Chirundu Fossil Forest where the ancient trees are possibly 150 million years old.
