Chamilandu Camp is set in one of the park's prime river locations, close to a series of 7 oxbow lakes that act as a great drawcard for the park's abundant wildlife. It's an ideal place to base yourself on a visit to South Luangwa, or you can use it as an overnight stop when on a walking safari.

Revel in days that begin with an early-morning walk in the wilderness, followed by an excellent brunch, relaxation, and observation in the river-side hide before a late afternoon game drive.

The elegant treehouse chalets at Chamilandu offer guests superb views over the waters of the Luangwa River and Nchindeni Hills. The fact that they are raised off the ground, however, means you are completely safe. The bathroom is open to the stars and overlooks the Luangwa river.

The camp is run on solar power and lit at night with the aid of paraffin lanterns.

Meals are served in an elegantly simple dining room under thatch, with magnificent views over the water.

In addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner, mid-morning tea with home-made cookies is served during the morning hike, and sundowners and light snacks are a traditional feature of the late afternoon game drive.

Chamilandu's unique treehouse chalets are tastefully decorated to create a soothing and relaxing ambience high up in the trees. The front of each treehouse opens out on a 180° vista overlooking the Luangwa River and Nchindeni Hills.

Each of these four 2-metre high chalets has an en suite bathroom, open to the stars, consisting of a shower, toilet and hand basin.
