A cultural village in South Luangwa National Park.
Experience Daily Life - probably the best way of interacting with local people is by taking part in daily activities like drawing water or brewing the local beer.
Traditional Entertainment - in the evenings everyone gathers around the fire as the villagers entertain with dances, drumming and drama and the finest storytellers recount the old, dramatic Kunda stories.
Community - the project is now self-run by a committee of villages and Kawaza School has the reputation in Zambia of being a great example of how help from tourism can improve a community.
The Luangwa Valley is well known for its unique wildlife and is also the home of the Kundas, a small tribe of about 35,000 people. To date, village trips have been short excursions undertaken between game drives. Kawaza Village gives you the unique opportunity to meet with and learn from the local people.
Accommodation and food is totally African. There is the chance to meet the Chief, a local traditional healer, to spend a morning with the ladies collecting water and cooking, to help with constructions and to dance with the ladies. This is not a set up village, but a chance for you to spend time with an African family and community.
Kawaza Village is in the Luangwa Valley in the South Luangwa National Park, in Zambia.
