On Foot

There are a number of hotels with private footpaths leading directly to the Falls. Victoria Falls Hotel and the Kingdom at Victoria Falls (on the Zimbabwean side), as well as the Zambezi Sun and The Royal Livingstone (on the Zambian side), are all a leisurely stroll away.

Both Victoria Falls Town (in Zimbabwe) and Livingstone town (in Zambia) are small enough to walk around, as is the Falls area - which has lovely winding footpaths through the forest reserves.

Shuttle Service and Taxis

Most Victoria Falls accommodation offers a shuttle service or transfer to the Falls, with a guide who'll walk you around this magnificent wonder of the natural world.

From Livingstone to the Falls is about a 10 km journey, although bear in mind that Livingstone accommodation tends not in the town itself, but rather in peaceful locations along the Zambezi River upstream of the Falls.

Taxis are relatively cheap, but make sure you negotiate the fare before getting into the vehicle. In Livingstone, official taxis are blue with a red number plate.

Car Hire

If you want to get around on your own, it is possible to hire a car, although this is fairly impractical - especially on the Zimbabwean side. If you do choose this option, just remember to keep an eye out for wildlife on the roads at night.
