Although English is the first language of only about two percent of the population around Victoria Falls, it's an official language and is spoken by anyone even peripherally involved in the tourism industry.

The languages of Ndebele and Shona predominate on the Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls, while Lozi is the main language on the Zambian side.

This distinction should not suggest a marked split between the two regions - the languages intermingle on both sides of the border. Tonga is also spoken on both sides of the river.
