Victoria Falls is spectacular throughout the year, but the best time to visit is from February to May, after the rainy season. This is when you'll see the greatest flow of water - although it may be a little difficult to photograph the Falls up close without getting your camera wet.
At the end of the dry season, (October and November) the Falls are at their least impressive, and this is also the time of year when temperatures remain uncomfortably hot throughout the day and night.
If you visit Victoria Falls during the dry season, depending how low the water is, you may find that the Zambian side has dried up. If this is the case, be sure to view the Main Falls from Zimbabwe. Crossing the border between the two countries is a relatively quick and easy process.
For whitewater rafting it's best to travel to Victoria Falls when the waters of the Zambezi River are low (generally from August to December), as this exciting activity does not run when the river is in flood.
Another great activity which you can only do when the water level is lower, is take a dip in the Devil's Pool. Believe it or not from around September to January, you can swim right to the edge of the Falls - it's a pure adrenaline rush!
The best time for game viewing is during the dry season (from June to October), as wildlife gathers around water holes or at rivers, and the vegetation is at its thinnest - making it easier to spot animals in the bush.
