Little Makalolo is the independently run 'sister' camp to Makalolo Plains and was opened soon after Makalolo Plains in 1997. Little Makalolo is located amongst teak trees and overlooks a waterhole and pan that is about 100m from the camp. A hide in front of the camp gives great game veiwing opportunities at the waterhole.

Keeping close to nature, Little Makalolo's tents are built on the ground, as is the dining room and lounge area which is situated under one large tent. There is also a refreshing pool in the camp, to cool off in between safari activities.



At Little Makalolo, your game viewing starts on your doorstep. Game drives in 4x4 Land Rovers and walks with an armed guide are all part of the experience. Summer sees the large antelope herds migrate onto the open grasslands in the area, closely followed by their predators. You can sit at a waterhole and watch the passing parade of animals as they come to quench their thirst. Birdlife is also abundant in the area.

Little Makalolo is about a 20min drive from Makalolo Plains in a private concession in the Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.

Wake up to a light and delicious breakfast before embarking on an early morning game drive. A hearty lunch follows, as well as afternoon tea. Dinner is served either in the tented dining room or out under the stars.

Little Makalolo sleeps 8 guests in 5 luxury-tented rooms, or up to 10 guests in a private group seeking exclusivity and privacy. Each room is stylishly furnished with all the necessary comforts. Bathroom facilities include an outside shower if you feel like stargazing whilst in the shower.
