Matabeleland North » Parks and reserves » Kazuma Pan National Park

This remote region of teak and mopane savannah, reminiscent of the grassy plains of East Africa, covers the tea kettle spout on Zimbabwe's extreme north western corner.

The number of visitors are limited so you will have the animals all to yourself. There are lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, elephants, buffaloes and oryx (gemsbok) antelopes which are rarely seen in Zimbabwe.

Two basic National Park camp sites provide the only accommodation and visitor access is strictly controlled. This may have something to do with the mass migrations of game between Botswana and Zimbabwe during the dry season from September to November.

The animals survive on the park's shallow pools which are filled by a borehole. The park is open from March to December due to road damage during the rainy season.
