Kwekwe

Founded in 1890, Kwekwe was built on gold. A white prospector pegged the ancient gold-workings shown to him by a local, and since those early days, chrome, iron and lime have also been mined.

Kwekwe was so named because of the songs of the frogs that serenaded along the river banks. These days, the town pulses to the metronomic sound of industry.
