Ruckomechi Camp

Superior thatched chalets overlooking the Zambezi River.

  • Location - a spectacular setting in a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees, overlooking the magnificent Zambezi River.

  • Variety - great game viewing and a multitude of activities to choose from including guided walks, boating and fishing.

  • Wildlife - lion, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, zebra, impala and elephant are just some of the animals that can be spotted in the area.

Ruckomechi Camp is situated on the western boundary of the Mana Pools National Park. The chalets and main camp buildings are sheltered by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees. You can relax in the thatched bar, dining and lounge area on the river's edge, looking out over the Zambezi and beyond to the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. A plunge pool offers a welcome respite from the midday sun.

During the day you are spoilt for choice with the option of game drives in 4x4 vehicles, guided bush walks, boating and canoeing on the river, as well as fishing. Predators including lion, wild dog, leopard, and cheetah are often sighted, large concentrations of buffalo can be found along the river's edge and elephant take advantage of the plentiful albida trees in the area. Bird watching tends to be good, with the river attracting large numbers of waterfowl.

Location

Ruckomechi Camp is situated on the western boundary of the Mana Pools National Park, in Zimbabwe.
