120 kilometres outside of Harare as you head towards the Eastern Highlands is the farming town of Marondera. Although the highveld scenery of gum trees and farmland bears no resemblance to the mountainous Eastern Highlands, during the dry winter season the air carries the scent of pine and eucalyptus.
Occupying pole position as the highest town in Zimbabwe, the temperate climate allows for viticulture. Orchards, maize and sheep also thrive.
