I've lived in Cape Town all my life and expressed a deep-rooted passion for wildlife from a young age. My travel aspirations and adoration for wildlife were united when I joined the Go2Africa team in 2017. Throughout my journey, I’ve embraced diverse operational roles and the privilege of contributing to this remarkable industry remains a constant source of gratitude.
I developed a keen fascination for Tanzania from a young age, the Ngorongoro Crater specifically, and wondered what it would be like to see the Serengeti. In April 2022, I was given the chance to see it for myself. The trip blew all other trips out of the water for me – I almost cried when I stood on the edge of the Crater, completely blown away by my presence in this unique place. It wasn't what was inside, which is incredible, but what it was.
When I finally got to see the Serengeti, it immediately captured my heart. Its a truly untouched place with land that stretches further than the eye can see. The feeling of it being our homeland, a place that felt so far removed from normality, just cemented how much we need to protect places like this.
It may seem cliché, and somewhat obvious, but take in every single moment. These trips are overwhelming in the very best way. Even if you feel tired, push on, because it will be over before you know it. Soak up the moments and make memories that will stay in your heart for a lifetime.
