African Rock Hotel

We had a lovely stay at the African Rock Hotel and Spa. The people were so joyful and welcoming, and the food was world-class.

The night in Joburg was also great. The African Rock did their normal great service. Susan loves staying there.

The African Rock Hotel was amazing. Small but beautiful – the 8 course Christmas Dinner was really good!

African Rock Hotel is a lovely, intimate boutique hotel located close to the airport and is ideal for an overnight stay between destinations. What makes it unique is despite its close proximity to the airport, you don't feel like you are staying at an airport hotel. It has a home away from home feeling and will make for a really enjoyable stopover.

The stay at the African Rock on our last night was great too. We really like that place. A great way to cap off the week in Southern Africa.

The African Rock Hotel in Jo’burg was excellent.

The African Rock Hotel was superb! The meals were outstanding and the entire experience from airport pick up to the room and meals was great. Highly recommend the place.

Was a little gem. We would not have known about this place without you suggesting it. It was an ideal stop over, very comfortable clean room – loved the toiletries and history supplied by the hotel in our room. Evening meal was excellent – the Chef explained each course to us. Would stay here again.

Our first night at the African Rock was amazing! Everyone there was so friendly and personable and they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. The rooms were very nice and the food was AMAZING! We weren’t even hungry but we found ourselves eating everything. We love Chef Christine!

We were met at the airport and taken to the African Rock hotel. It is a gem, the staff were just so friendly and it all had a nice family feel. Our daughter got to help in the kitchen to make whatever she wanted for dinner, While we had a lovely meal.

One word. FANTASTIC!!!!

The Africa Rock Hotel in Johannesburg was great – very personalised service, presentation and decor, and such a warm atmosphere. The food was also great and we were disappointed that we only stayed one night. We are planning to return to Africa and South Africa in the next few years, and also plan to stay at both hotels again.

African Rock Hotel: to put it simply, we wish we could have spent more time in the facility. Beautiful rooms and garden. Excellent hotel, with great service and the dinner was fantastic: the chef is very nice and she made the food a la minute. She was kind enough to give me tips on the wines she preferred most. Staff is very discrete. I would say that it is a place to go and stay in… also because it gave me the impression that one needs to make a good drive to get to the busy part of town with restaurants and shopping. So, should one want to be close to the action, I think ARH is not the place. On the other hand, if one wants to enjoy the place, it is definitely the spot to be. One silly remark though: in both the girls' rooms they had problem with the hot water in the shower. Lya had a bath with warm water and when she went for the shower, the water was cold. Carol took a cold shower. And in Julie´s/Rafaela´s room, the same problem.

We had the best time and will definitely be back for another go.

Then we stayed a night at the African Rock hotel in JoBurg. The hotel room was very nice and we were very pleased with the hotel. We did feel that the dining was a little pricy for what it was and we were a little disappointed in the food (since we were only there one night we didn’t want to go anywhere else). But the service was great and we felt safe and well taken care of, which is the important thing. Zelda, one of the owners even came and introduced herself to us and she was very kind and welcoming. Our transfer to and from the airport was also very good and the driver was very pleasant and kind.

Regarding the accommodations, the African Rock was very nice – staff were lovely. Of course we were only there a short time but I would recommend it.

African Rock Hotel at Jo;berg was small and intimate. We needed a late check out and Maureen had to finish an assignment – they were wonderful in ensuring she had the time and space needed. They also have a great well priced little restaurent.

The African Rock was fabulous and the meal was excellent it would be much easier to just stay right at the airport as the short time we had did not justify the trip to the African Rock, particularly in the middle of winter as you really can’t fully enjoy the hotel. It was also a bit confusing at Johannesburg airport for the pick up as we thought we were taking a shuttle bus vs a pre-arranged taxi and driver although we managed to connect and it worked out fine.

The African Rock Hotel was quite interesting. It was a wonderful home converted to a hotel. The chef was the best we had on the trip! The landscaping was wonderful and Lew enjoyed the pool, although it was a bit cool as the weather had turned cooler.
