Airport Planet Lodge is a welcoming first stop in northern Tanzania, set in Kingori between Arusha and Moshi, just a short drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport. It's a convenient base for travellers arriving in the region, whether beginning a safari, preparing for a Kilimanjaro climb or simply needing a comfortable overnight stay. Surrounded by tropical gardens, birdlife and flowering greenery, and, on clear days, framed by views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, it feels far more restful than a typical airport hotel.
Accommodation is arranged in African-style chalets and garden cottages, giving the lodge a relaxed, low-rise feel. Guests can soak up the sun by the swimming pool, enjoy a massage, dine on the terrace or spend time in the gardens. With both a main bar and poolside bar, there's a surprising amount of space to unwind for an airport stay, while complimentary transfers help keep travel seamless.

Standard Room
The Standard Rooms are set across both the main lodge building and the garden cottages, offering a peaceful place to pause between journeys. Individually decorated and shaped by the lodge’s African-inspired design, they feel more inviting than a typical airport overnight – ideal for easing into Tanzania after a long flight or unwinding before the journey home. Some open out onto the gardens, adding a welcome sense of calm and privacy to your stay.
Inside, air conditioning, mosquito nets, tea and coffee facilities and an en-suite bathroom make it easy to settle in, whether you’re staying over or simply stopping to recharge. These rooms can also be booked on a day-room basis, making them especially useful for longer layovers when you want somewhere comfortable to shower, rest and regroup from late morning into the evening before your next flight. Inter-leading options are also available for families travelling together.
Other Room Types:
For those wanting a little more room to spread out, Deluxe Rooms offer extra space along with a sofa and a corner bathtub for a more comfortable, leisurely stay. The Executive Suite adds even more privacy and flexibility, with a separate lounge area and kitchen making it a particularly good fit for longer stopovers or travellers wanting a more spacious start or finish to their Tanzania itinerary.
General Facilities
Airport Planet Lodge is well suited to the quieter moments before or after safari. The gardens and birdsong create an immediate sense of calm, while the pool area, set towards the back of the property, is a lovely place to cool off with views towards Mount Meru. If you have a few hours to spare, a massage can help ease travel fatigue, while the airy lounge and bar offer comfortable spaces to unwind before the next leg of the trip.
There's also a practical ease to staying here. Airport transfers, pre-flight shower facilities, room service and a few useful extras such as a curio shop and laundry services all help smooth the edges of travel. Add in a small fitness centre and leafy spaces to wander, and the lodge offers more than just a bed for the night. It's simple, yes – but thoughtfully so, and all the more appealing for it.
