Overview

Situated at the foot of the wooded slopes of Mount Meru, on the shores of the beautiful Lake Duluti, Arusha Serena Hotel is built on what used to be a coffee plantation. The ideal spot for a pre- or post-safari stay, the countryhouse-styled cottages offer a comfortable and relaxed place to enjoy the tranquil surroundings of Lake Duluti. Designed to replicate the traditional style of the colonial coffee farm, the lodge is ideally located at the gateway to the renowned Tanzanian 'Northern Safari Circuit'.

A walk with the resident naturalist will have you identifying some of the 130 different types of birds while a walk on the lake shore might give the opportunity to spot the colobus monkeys and forest antelope. For more active options, you can enjoy mountain biking on the slopes of the magnificent Mount Meru or go canoeing on the lake. The convenient location of the lodge offers easy access to the town of Arusha and the national parks in the area. Children will always be entertained at the Mountain Village and will be specially catered for at mealtimes.

Rooms

Standard Room

The stone cottages at the Arusha Serena Hotel take the form of 'rondavels' - traditional circular dwellings - that have banana-stem thatched roofs and are grouped in clusters around a flowery village square to create a welcoming, comfortable home. Rooms are designed in a country house style and are spacious and elegantly furnished with intricately carved furniture. Each room features an en suite bathroom and a private balcony, as well as double French doors that lead into the gardens. Rooms also feature ceiling fans, mosquito nets, and mini-bars. An additional children’s bed can be added on request.

Facilities

The welcoming, comfortable lounge area is an ideal place to relax in the evening with a glass of red wine, while the library features a wide range of African books.

Enjoy relaxing beauty treatments and massages at the spa, or take a leisurely stroll through the tranquil flower gardens.

The bar area is situated in the stone-built main area that used to be the coffee planter's farm house, and features log fires to create an inviting atmosphere. Enjoy views of the lake and garden as you sip on your evening drink.

Dining

The Fountain Restaurant is situated in the old colonial farmhouse and boasts both lake and garden views. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and you can look forward to delicious international dishes either indoors or on the open-air terrace. Sit down to a delicious breakfast and lunch buffet with a range of international options and vegetarian dishes.

Dinner is presented in a table d'hôte style, accompanied with a salad buffet, soups, entrée, and delicious desserts. The majority of the meat, diary, fruits and vegetables are sourced from the communities surrounding the reserve and meals are paired with an extensive wine list.

For a more special experience, that is closer to nature, you can enjoy a bush breakfast, lunch or dinner at a scenic spot where you can enjoy a romantic, lamp-lit dinner.

Arusha Serena Hotel
PH

The Ranger Safari Company took us to this hotel for lunch. Unfortunately, we were very pressed for time and could not really appreciate the great food, service, ambiance of this lodge. Even though, the lunch was a buffet (the same as Serena Lodge), it was an extremely of good quality and service was first class. The setting, although, apparently it is a fairly new hotel, was beautiful. Very authentic looking extremely well decorated. I highly recommend this lodge. We would love to have spent more time there.
