Asanja Moru
Lying on the savannah of the Serengeti National Park and shaded by rocky outcrops known as the Moru Kopjes, this luxurious tented safari camp provides comfort, and – with only five tents available – personalised attention and service.
Being located on the path of one of the Great Wildebeest Migration, this is the ideal place to see wildebeest, zebras and gazelles embarking on their annual journey, not least because the rocky Moru Kopjes provide plenty of shade and lookout points for lions and cheetahs. Enjoy game drives with skilled guides or even an exciting balloon safari.

This camp was absolutely wonderfully well-run, excellent food, friendly staff and beautiful tents.
However:
It was in the middle of nowhere, about 1 1/2 hours from the main Serengeti area, with about 1/2
hour of that time travelling through tsetse. We had to close all windows and the rooftop of our jeep if we didn't want to get eaten alive. The location is not as awesome as other
camps that are situated on a hilltop with great views. Asanja is in the middle of nowhere so we didn't see any wildlife (apart from birds) during our stay.
I would defnitely not book anyone into this place during or shortly after the short or long rains. To get to the camp, you have to drive through a river (no bridge – right into the water), including down
and up a muddy bank. On our last morning, our jeep got stuck in the mud and after trying to dig us out for 1/2 hour, our guide arranged a relay of other jeeps from nearby Dunai camp to get us to the
Seronera airport to which we arrived 10 minutes after our Mahale night’s departure time, (luckily the pilot waited!)

A special compliment to the Asanja staff. They were very accommodating. They supplied great food for being in the middle of nowhere. There were Maasai storytellers around the fire every night before and after dinner. This place wants to grow by a few tents, and should be supported by your recommendations in the future. Food was exceptional, given the remote location. Fresh, and gourmet!
