Overview

Lying on the savannah of the Serengeti National Park and shaded by rocky outcrops known as the Moru Kopjes, this luxurious tented safari camp provides comfort, and - with only five tents available - personalised attention and service.

Being located on the path of one of the Great Wildebeest Migration, this is the ideal place to see wildebeest, zebras and gazelles embarking on their annual journey, not least because the rocky Moru Kopjes provide plenty of shade and lookout points for lions and cheetahs. Enjoy game drives with skilled guides or even an exciting balloon safari.

Luxury Guest Tent

Asanja Moru offers five spacious and similarly designed luxury tents, each representing a Maasai Ceremony and inspired by African culture.

Emanyata represents the Warrior's Camp Ceremony and every Maasai boy's dream of becoming a warrior. The tent is decorated in shades of blue and white with beads and fire sticks.

Eunoto symbolises the Warrior Head Shaving Ceremony when a warrior becomes a senior warrior.

The tent is decorated in shades of green, representing health and growth.

Eokoto E-kule is decorated in white, symbolising the Milk Drinking Ceremony which is initiated after a warrior shaves his hair.

Facilities

Asanja offers exhilarating game drives in 4x4 safari vehicles that accommodate only six guests. Enjoy sundowner drinks from a fantastic viewpoint before returning to the Safari Bar & Lounge for a pre-dinner drink. Be pleasantly entertained by cultural dancing and music while savouring your dinner in the mess tent.

The camp also offers a complementary laundry service and can arrange unforgettable hot-air balloon safaris.

Dining

Asanja's skilled chef and his team create dishes that are inspired by local flavours and ingredients fused with Continental elements.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the camp's mess tent but speak to the staff about arranging private breakfasts, dinners or barbecues out on the savannah.

This camp was absolutely wonderfully well-run, excellent food, friendly staff and beautiful tents. However: It was in the middle of nowhere, about 1 1/2 hours from the main Serengeti area, with about 1/2 hour of that time travelling through tsets e. We had to close all windows and the rooftop of our jeep if we didn’t want to get eaten alive. The location is not as awesome as other camps that are situated on a hilltop with great views. Asanja is in the middle of nowhere so we didn’t see any wildlife (apart from birds) during our stay. I would defnitely not book anyone into this place during or shortly after the short or long rains. To get to the camp, you have to drive through a river (no bridge - right into the water), including down and up a muddy bank. On our last morning, our jeep got stuck in the mud and after trying to dig us out for 1/2 hour, our guide arranged a relay of other jeeps from nearby Dunai camp to get us to the Seronera airport to which we arrived 10 minutes after our Mahale night's departure time, (luckily the pilot waited!)

A special compliment to the Asanja staff. They were very accommodating. They supplied great food for being in the middle of nowhere. There were Maasai storytellers around the fire every night before and after dinner. This place wants to grow by a fe w tents, and should be supported by your recommendations in the future. Food was exceptional, given the remote location. Fresh, and gourmet!
