Bahari View Lodge offers affordable accommodation in Zanzibar without sacrificing comfort and convenience. The word ‘bahari’ means ‘ocean’ in Swahili and the lodge is naturally located just back from a lovely white-sand beach that is protected by offshore reefs. It is a classic setting under swaying palm trees while the lodge sits surrounded by lush tropical gardens. You can do as much or as little as you please: the in-house bicycles are free to use to explore the area, there is a swimming pool, a restaurant, a beach bar and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access.
Scuba divers and snorkelers will want to explore the famed coral reefs of nearby Pajé while those looking to keep their feet dry can enjoy walking around the historic capital Stone Town, join an informative spice tour (this is the Spice Island, after all) or visit Jozani Forest to search for wildlife in this unique rainforest reserve, which is home to the red colobus, one of the rarest monkeys in Africa.

There are 12 thatched bungalows at Bahari View Lodge with a choice of double or twin beds, plus the option to add an extra single bed for a child. Set under trees, each cottage is just a few steps away from the beach and will make you feel at home right away. The rooms are large and light, decorated in a casual, beach-house style and come with their own bathroom as well as a private terrace to sit on and admire the views.
General Facilities
The main lodge features a lounge, restaurant and a well-stocked bar, all with complimentary Wi-Fi access. Bahari View has a swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers from which you can take a few short steps and find yourself on the beach, complete with shady palm trees and a convenient ocean-side bar for a cold drink or two. Hammocks are strung throughout the property, giving you great places to relax in the shade with a book.
Bahari View Lodge has bicycles available for no charge and are a great way to explore the local area. The laundry service is a convenient feature, especially if you have been on a long and dusty safari.
