Overview of Basecamp Wilderness

Kenya, Naboisho Conservancy

The Naboisho Conservancy borders the Masai Mara National Reserve, forming part of Kenya's greater Mara ecosystem – famed for its vast savannahs, iconic wildlife and strong community-led conservation model. Created through a partnership between landowners and conservationists, Naboisho protects over 20,000 hectares of pristine wilderness, supporting large populations of lion, elephant, giraffe and more.

Tucked into the extraordinary Saddle Valley lies Basecamp Wilderness: a small, solar-powered camp offering a pared-back, authentic safari experience. With just eight tents – including a family unit – this eco-conscious camp immerses you in the sights and sounds of the bush while offering unexpected comfort in the form of handcrafted furnishings, warm Maasai hospitality and thoughtful design that blends seamlessly into the landscape.

Days begin with steaming coffee around the campfire and end under star-filled skies, where the only sound is the crackle of flames and the distant calls of nocturnal wildlife. Whether you're walking with expert guides or tracking lions on a late-afternoon game drive, Basecamp Wilderness offers a genuine connection to Kenya's people and places – unfiltered, unhurried and unforgettable.
