Situated just a short walk from the old, historic part of Swellendam, De Kloof Luxury Estate is in a lovely, leafy residential street and opens onto an enormous garden with beautiful views of the Langeberg Mountains. Originally built in 1801, the Cape Dutch guesthouse has been carefully renovated by the owners and stylishly decorated with antiques and artefacts from the couple's travels to the East and time spent living in West Africa.

Deluxe Suite

Located together in an enclosed private zen garden, the Deluxe Garden Suites are exquisite in design. These suites offer more space than the Luxury Rooms to include the built-in leather couches and the flat screen TV. The large en suite designer bathrooms offer a separate bath, large rain shower, and dual vanities.

Manor XL Suite

Situated in the original manor house, the Manor XL suite combines the historical with modern, eclectic elements. The main room is outfitted with a stabilised king-sized waterbed, and a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, while the bathroom features a Jacuzzi tub, dual rain showers, double vanities, and under-floor heating. The suite offers a private patio with stunning mountain views.

Practice your swing on the estate's driving range and putting green - clubs and equipment are available for your use, or cool off and unwind at the large sparkling pool with its stunning views of the Langeberg Mountains.

Enjoy a fine cigar and a drink, before or after dinner, in the manor's private lounge & library, while also perusing the shelves for an exciting fiction or history book.

Maintain your daily workout at the small gym, equipped with pilates balls, and yoga mats.

Meals at De Kloof are a delectable experience, starting with delicious breakfasts of fresh fruit, daily baked bread, and eggs prepared to your liking.

Lunches are light and typically include sandwiches and salads which can be enjoyed on your suite's terrace, by the pool, or in one of the rose gardens.

Dinners include tapas platters or dishes from the à la carte menu, and are served under the stars at a candlelit table in a secluded spot on the estate’s lawns.

De Kloof - Upon arriving at this gem in Swellendam, I thought to myself that the owners are going to have to evict me from the premises. I am surprised that I did not barricade myself in my room (Roy and Marjolein put me in the Loft space in the ann ex building that is separated from the main building). Earlier I vowed not to rank one property over the other, but a small confession: De Kloof ranks the highest of them all. The Loft suite I stayed in is a perfect apartment for a single person like myself. I was completely, utterly, happily at home. Everything about De Kloof is spectacular; the property reflects Roy and Marjolein's expert attention to detail and exceptional taste in design, room layout, quality craftsmanship, colors, furniture, bedding/lines, towels, etc. EVERYTHING. Simply ... the best.
