Located in a small concession area in popular Hwange National Park, Deteema Springs sits on the shoulder of a small rise dotted with boulders and fringed by teak and mopane forests. Flanked by a seep (collection of springs) on one side and Deteema dam on the other, attracting animals looking to water themselves. Elephant, plains game and packs of endangered African wild dogs are all common sights here.
There is plenty to do at Deteema. Start your days with a game drive, bird watching or immerse yourself in nature with a guided walk. Under the care of a highly trained guide, you will discover the finer details of the African bush that come together to form the bigger picture. If you don’t feel like leaving camp, though, Deteema’s raised decks and pathways mean that you’ll still be able to see some of the abundant wildlife inhabiting this area.
The camp’s elevated position ensures both privacy and sweeping views of Hwange, while its restrained design ensures that the animals remain the real stars of the show. Deteema successfully combines authentic safari luxury with eco awareness with its non-permanent canvas tents, solar power and bio plants to manage the kitchen and laundry service.
