Elephant’s Eye is a charming, eco-style safari camp located on a private concession bordering the entrance of the Hwange National Park. The area is home to large numbers of game, including huge herds of up to 200 elephants that often visit the waterholes in front of the lodge, much to the delight of guests.

Tented suites have a traditional design of canvas and thatch, with fold up sides, and large glass doors that allow you to appreciate the view. Each suite has a fireplace and a generously-sized en-suite bathroom as well as an outdoor shower so you can start your day with refreshing views of the African bushveld. A definite must is the open-air sleeping deck called The Eye, where you can spend the night under the stars and wake up to animals arriving for their first drink at the adjacent watering hole. The swimming pool and recreation area with a bar and lounge are complemented by a spa with a rejuvenating range of treatments. Game viewing in Hwange, guided walks as well as night drives are the main activities on offer, with evenings spent enjoying sundowners at the waterhole or the game viewing hide.

Tented Chalet

Each of the eight luxury tents have double or twin beds with mosquito netting, and are located separately with views over the nearby watering hole. The en-suite bathrooms have outdoor showers and while the private living space is equipped with a fireplace and a tea and coffee station.

Some of the suites are extra spacious, featuring additional dining areas and private balconies so you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounds.

Elephant’s Eye is centred around a busy watering hole and as an unfenced camp you are likely to see wildlife, including elephant families, arrive to quench their thirst. The main camp consists of an outdoor boma and fire pit, a lounge, bar, dining room and an all-natural eco-friendly swimming pool. There is a wellness spa for relaxing afternoons of pampering as well as a small gift shop for essential safari supplies and lovely local art and craft. The Eye is a sleep out deck that can be booked for romantic nights under the stars. Guest may use the Wi-Fi in the main mess area of the camp as well as in the bar and dining area.

Meals are served in various locations around camp or out in the wilderness, depending on the weather and special requests. The main dining area is under canvas but dinner is often served outside in the boma, for a magical experience under a twinkling southern sky. Private dinners can also be arranged.
