Overview of Elsa’s Kopje

Kenya, Meru

Elsa’s Kopje is an award-winning and private safari lodge in Kenya’s Meru National Park. Named after the famous lioness reared by George and Joy Adamson of Born Free fame, the camp is located in an area of open plains, doum palms, baobab trees and lush flora. The cottages at Elsa’s Kopje are designed to incorporate the natural rocky hillside and make for an exclusive safari retreat.

Enjoy game drives in open 4×4 vehicles in the company of knowledgeable driver-guides. Nature walks and night game drives can also be arranged in the national park, while a rafting trip on the Tana River provides a unique way to view wildlife. In between safari activities you can enjoy the additional activities such as taking a dip in the pool, unwinding with a massage, or browsing the library and on-site gift shop

Safari Cottage

Perched on the hillside with breathtaking views of the expansive Meru National Park, Elsa’s Kopje offers uniquely designed Safari Cottages, each crafted to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. These open-fronted cottages invite nature in while offering comfort and style. Every cottage includes a spacious main bedroom, an ensuite bathroom, and a private deck or sitting area, where you can relax and soak in the stunning vistas. Two of the cottages are also equipped with extra beds, making them ideal for a small family.

For larger families, the Family Cottage provides the perfect home away from home. It features an ensuite double bedroom and an ensuite twin bedroom, connected by a lounge and a generous private deck. The cottage also boasts a luxurious outdoor bath, perfect for unwinding while surrounded by nature.

    Very impressed with all the Elewana properties, guides, staff/management and food; amazed at the varied food that was served and beautifully presented in such remote locations. I was pleased that the 3 properties (Elsa’s Kopje, Loisaba, and Sand River) we selected had such varied environments.

    Elsa’s Kopje was our next favorite. It had a cozy feeling and enjoyed meeting my fellow guests. The guide at this property was our favorite since he was extremely kind, knowledgeable with a great personality. Also liked that we were also in a private reserve.

    Elsa’s Kopje… wow! The bungalows constructed in the rocks with the myriad Bush Babies everywhere including on my bed was just another out of body experience. The walk to the restaurant along the rock ledge and the wet edge pool gave a sense of really being in the bush. Looking down on the plains and seeing for miles was spectacular and we really enjoyed our meal times which were exceptional.

    Elsa’s Kopje was really great as well. The lodgings were really unique and charming. This was one of the best-run camps we’ve ever been in over our five safaris and the level of service was outstanding. They cleaned the rooms every time we stepped outside, four or more times a day, without being the least intrusive. The outdoor breakfast was so memorable.

    To begin with Elsa’s Kopje resort in Meru National Park for being our first itinerary and stop. The lodge was fascinating and we felt like being out of no where in top of the hell with magnificent view of the whole park. The staff and the services were just perfect; they did their best to accommodate our needs. The food was delicious and very well served in elegant way. The guided safari Mr. Josef was so professional in spotting animal tracks and made our safari so enjoyable and informative.
