Grootbos was sensational. We can't say enough good things about the place. It was a beautiful property, matched only by the warmth and professionalism of the service staff. The outdoor activities were very enjoyable and well-run. Absolutely fabulous.

Grootbos - what can we say - fantastic. Definitely the best small hotel we have stayed at and on a par with Four Seasons. Accommodation, food, service and the staff were all first class. The nature drives and trips were very good and Christoff our gu ide on the 4 x 4 nature safari and nature walks was quite exceptional. Five stars does not seem enough - we did not want to leave.

The highlight of our trip was Grootbos - we loved the room, the on site activities including whale / seal / penguin watching and the social responsibility tour and wished we had left the previous hotel earlier to enjoy Grootbos to its fullest. What a treat.

Grootbos - another fantastic place with great food. We really liked the modern/contemporary design of the lodges and the fact that we were staying in a nature reserve. Once again all the staff were extremely helpful and all the activities well organi zed. We enjoyed Whale watching and I went cage diving, which really didn't live up to expectations (I think I would prefer to be in open water as opposed to cooped up in a cage!). Unfortunately, it was a very long trip with lots of waiting around on the boat etc. Apart from the cage diving trip (which isn't operated by Grootbos), we loved the place. I especially like the fact that they are training and educating local people from the shanty town to act as guides, thereby putting something back into the community.
