Kyambura Gorge Lodge
Per Person Sharing
A former coffee plantation and estate at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains, Kyambura Lodge has sensitively restored and eclectically decorated the old coffee-processing and drying shed to create a luxurious, eco-sensitive lodge on the edge of Kyambura Gorge and the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Forested Kyambura Gorge is the playground for endangered chimpanzees and you can spend a day tracking them while admiring their beautiful forest surroundings and enjoying some excellent bird watching.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s flagship big game park and is home to wildlife such as buffalo, elephant, lion, hippo, leopard and many antelope species plus no fewer than 10 primate species. Go on guided game drives through the park or take a boat cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel where you may spot hippo, Nile crocodile and scores of bird species at the water's edge.

The brick and grass-thatched bandas are well spaced for privacy and each has a unique view across the plains below from the bedroom, bathroom and the private wooden balcony.
Each banda has a simple but stylishly decorated bedroom with mosquito net-draped beds and its own spacious bathroom with twin basins and an indoor and outdoor shower.
The Deluxe Bandas offer added space and elegance, making them an ideal choice for honeymooners. From your private balcony, take in the breathtaking views of the sunken Kyambura forest. Unwind in the spacious lounge area and find comfort and relaxation in the comfortable beds after a day out exploring the forested paradise.
The old coffee store and processing plant now houses the creatively decorated and comfortable lounge and bar area with an interesting collection of books, magazines and locally made artefacts as well as a spacious dining area.
The living areas lead onto a broad deck boasting magnificent views across the gorge to the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance.
Cool off in the large, clear salt-water swimming pool or laze in a hammock on the pool deck while you admire the endless view.
Relaxing in-room massages are also available to ease the muscles after a day of chimp tracking in the forests.

Wholesome and delicious meals are prepared by creative chefs and served in the bright and airy dining room or out on the deck with huge views of the gorge and savannah below. Much of fresh produce is grown organically on site.
A unique lodge, where the communal office was once an old coffee store and the decor offers a twist on local art. The views from the pool are amazing and Kyambura Gorge, where you can trek chimps is on your doorstep.

Loved it! Beautiful, spacious and character-filled rooms. One of the few places they would bring you coffee/ tea in the morning with your wake-up call – so nice to enjoy your morning coffee on your verandah with sweeping views of the surroundings. The staff were warm, professional and personal and the food was excellent – highly recommend it. If possible, a three-night stay would be ideal to take advantage of all the activities the lodge has to offer as well as game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park. All guests can plant a tree, which was very special.
Kyambura Gorge Lodge definitely is the ‘pearl' of the Queen Elizabeth Region. Their Deluxe Cottages are super, and for a client who wants something more than just game drives, a three nights' stay here is mind-blowing, as you can do plenty of walks and visit community projects (coffee, beekeeping). Kyambura Gorge Lodge definitely is ‘wow’.

Next onto Queen Elizabeth National Park, and after some game driving, onto Kyambura Gorge Lodge. All the roads, of course, are dreadful, and shook us up all the way. The Gorge Lodge was wonderful, and if I had any regrets it would be that we did not stay here another day. There was a gorge walk I would love to have done, and they were so gracious at the lodge and the accommodation and food was superb. Sad to leave
