Rooms

Standard Chalet

Strung out along the edge of the escarpment and enjoying beautiful views of the tranquil surroundings, the traditional double-storey 'rondavels' are circular in shape, have thatched roofs and house two en suite rooms each - one upstairs and one downstairs. Each room has either a veranda or balcony. The decor of the rooms reflects traditional Maasai style, with hand-woven rugs behind the head board and furnishings that incorporate traditional beadwork. All rooms have Wi-Fi and comfortable en suite bathrooms with separate showers. The rooms are spacious enough to accommodate families with the option to add extra beds or a cot should it be required. For added convenience, adjoining rooms are available.

Other room types:

The Losimingori Suite is situated a little way from the other rooms, offering complete privacy and a private entrance. This exclusive suite offers views that stretch to Losimingori Mountain and is elegantly appointed for the more discerning traveller.

The room boasts a king-sized bed, dressing area and beautifully furnished sitting room, as well as an en suite bathroom. In addition, there is also a fully-stocked mini-bar, television, a spread of fruit and wine on arrival, and a spacious balcony from which to enjoy your panoramic views.

Facilities

The rim-flow swimming pool offers an incredible spot from which to view the lake and, of course, the best place to escape the warm African sun.

Lounge on the pool deck afterward with a drink or some snacks from the pool bar. The restaurant has a bar and outside terrace that overlooks the pool.

Dining

The restaurant at Lake Manyara is comfortable, yet elegant. The décor has a strong reference to the Maasai culture and features detailed beadwork, gourds and leatherwork. Dine on delicious, hearty meals three times a day, enjoyed in the dining area or on the terrace. Breakfast and lunch consist of extensive buffets with a wide variety of meat and vegetarian options, while dinner takes a table d'hôte style accompanied with a salad buffet. The majority of the meat, dairy products, and fruits and vegetables are sourced from the communities surrounding the reserve. Complement your meal with a glass of wine from the extensive wine list or with local and imported beers.

You can also enjoy freshly-made local fruit juices and the finest Tanzanian coffee and tea. For a special experience, you can choose to enjoy a memorable bush meal at one of the dedicated sites on the grounds - enjoy the beautiful surroundings while tucking into yet another delicious meal. Children of all ages are catered for at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge, with special children meals and baby food. Early lunches and dinners can be arranged to accommodate their routine.

Lake Manyara Serena - gorgeous location, rooms, setting! Great entertainment by the pool before dinner, and at dinner when we asked if there was any local cuisine our waiter brought the chef to speak with us and he cooked us an amazing green banana s tew with sides - fantastic!! Only disappointment was that due to our arrival time (around 6pm) and leaving the next day, we didn't get time to go in the swimming pool (as it closed at the time we arrived). The pool has such a gorgeous view we really wanted to have a swim and were disappointed that we didn't get the opportunity.

Lake Manyara Serena Lodge – After Arusha Coffee Lodge we were picked up to go to another Safari in Lake Manyara, which was another awesome experience. Then we had lunch at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. The food was pretty good and the view was amazing! Definitely some awesome photo ops! The property was really nice as well. But again that view!

Lake Manyara Serena was fantastic, not brand new, but that added to the character. The rooms were spacious and clean and well set out. The restaurant was super as was the food and the pool setting and the views over the Rift valley were magnificent. The staff were really friendly and very professional.

Then onto Lake Manyara - Serena on the side of the Rift Escarpment and overlooking the lake and the National Park. Afternoon game drive partly in different vegetation found some different animals and those we knew in a different environment not that you could get sick of them anyway - at least I don't think I could. Night drive that night. Brilliant with an armed Park ranger just incase. Was a different way to see wildlife and how they are after dark. Just going ou in the open jeep was an experience. Don't kow how spotter found what he did - but was all good and we enjoyed our last night on safari by finishing with that.

We also loved the accomodations. They were beautiful, both the lodges themselves and the locations. Thank you for all your assistance in putting our Eastern African safari together. You did an excellent job of planning a spectacular itinerary. Someo ne told me "Africa gets in your blood", and its true. I hope to return again someday.
