Lion Camp is tucked away in the northern reaches of Zambia's world-famous wildlife sanctuary, the South Luangwa National Park. Situated within the Luangwa Valley floor, the camp provides uninterrupted panoramic views of the animal-rich oxbow lagoons and surrounding grasslands. Within the elevated elegance of a treehouse-styled lodge, Lion Camp offers a perfect vantage point for you to survey the Luangwa Valley and its rich display of wildlife.
An abundance of game can be viewed from the comfort of your luxury suite, where you'll be delighted each day by the grunting of hippos soaking in the nearby river during flooding season or the musical tweets of over 400 species of birds—each unique sound waiting to be expertly identified. The suites are connected to the main lodge by elevated walkways allowing you to feel safe while still enjoying the luxury of an unfenced lodge boasting free-roaming wildlife.
Operating from May to October, Lion Camp provides a premier destination lodge experience focused solely on delivering an authentic safari adventure. Your stay includes a range of exciting outdoor activities, such as stargazing and special interest safaris, alongside luxurious amenities. The structure of the Luxury Suites at Lion Camp is a bespoke blend of timber decks, thatched roofs, and roll-up canvas walls. The safari-chic ambiance is elevated by a modern-styled lounge area and a plush down duvet with superior quality linen on a king-sized bed, providing ample space to relax and enjoy your private lodgings.
An en-suite bathroom provides a private space to indulge in a hot shower as you refresh from the day’s adventures. Additionally, an evening-breeze cooling system offers an air-conditioned atmosphere for an escape from the midday heat. Wi-Fi in your room allows you to stay connected, while international plug points and USB charging make connecting a breeze.

Lion Camp offers you an authentic African safari experience with an abundance of outdoor activities, including bush walks, stargazing, game drives, and special interest safaris, all under the guidance of an expert ranger.
On-site game viewing hide and an expansive viewing deck offer an armchair safari experience. Additionally, a photography studio provides a sanctuary for avid wildlife photographers to edit their snaps from the day. An on-site gift shop will leave you with memorabilia to share with friends and family. Finally, a small gym facility will also give you a chance to catch up on some exercise for those days when you're not off exploring the park on foot.
The lodge’s main area offers multiple spacious areas for you to delight in the company of fellow guests. You can escape the midday heat with a dip in the large swimming pool or indulge in some fun-filled competition at the snooker table. Alternatively, gather around the firepit in the early evenings to enjoy tasty wines and bush storytelling.

Overall, Lion Camp was excellent. Great location along an almost-dry stream with an abundance of wildlife both from the camp itself and on game drives. The service was top-notch, the staff friendly and efficient. We had some amazing wildlife sightings. Every minute there was something unexpected, and we have thousands of incredible photos. The carmine bee-eaters, which I had been longing to see, arrived on schedule, as promised.
