Overview of Mashatu Main Camp

Featuring a floodlit waterhole that gives its guests an insight into Africa’s nocturnal wildlife, Mashatu Main Camp is located in the private Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana’s Tuli Block. A small, intimate but family-friendly camp of only 14 suites, the focus here is on delivering a comprehensive game viewing and cultural experience in the little-visited south-east corner of Botswana. Set out at dawn and dusk with dedicated Tswana rangers and trackers on game drives to spot the famous big game of the region.

Hear about the fascinating protection and conservation initiatives in the camp’s Discovery Room and visit the historical Motloutse Ruins and Pitsani Koppie sites for a cultural alternative. And when the day is done, relax in the plush lounge or enjoy a sundowner at the Gin Trap bar while gazing out over the waterhole.

Mashatu was most enjoyable for us as the game viewing was exceptionally good and all of the staff were wonderful.

The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. Our guide, Joe and Albert were first class and we really enjoyed Joe’s tremendous experience and humour, as well as his knowledge of the animals. Unlike other reserves we have been to, Joe kept us informed as to what we were either looking for or driving towards, even though we realized the sighting may have moved off by the time we arrived. We really appreciated this as we have found other private reserves very frustrating when the guides keep you in the dark about sightings until you arrive. The accommodation was excellent and the meals were always well prepared and tasty.
