Muddy Teak
Per Person Sharing
Muddy Teak is an exclusive-use safari camp nestled in a private concession in Hwange National Park — Zimbabwe's largest reserve and a beloved symbol of national heritage. It plays host to the largest population of elephants in Africa, alongside hundreds of mammal species, including the iconic Big Five and a variety of antelopes that can be seen grazing and prancing along the golden horizon.
Open from May to November, the dry season draws wildlife to gather at precious water sources, making this the peak time for wildlife viewing. The camp is well-positioned overlooking a large watering hole, providing front-row seats to a spectacle of animals as they come to drink and bathe in the waters. An ideal climate of cool mornings invites you to warm up with a hot coffee before setting out on your morning safari, while mild afternoons usher in a warm glow of sunlight and draw more active wildlife onto the plains — perfect for donning your sunglasses and hat.
As a private camp, Muddy Teak is ideal for groups seeking to enjoy a personalised safari with their friends and family. It offers classic safari excursions with exclusive access to a private guide and vehicle, inviting you to tailor your experience — whether it's an early morning walking safari or a romantic sundowner game drive.

Muddy Teak is avaliable as an exclusive-use camp, offering four Standard Rooms and a Family Room.
The Standard Rooms are safari-chic tents set on raised decks beneath a canopy of teak and ordeal trees, boasting an ambiance of elevated seclusion. Roll-up canvas sides and wide double doors welcome natural light and a fresh breeze, while your private deck overlooks a nearby watering hole for an armchair safari.
The beds are draped with cascading mosquito nets and overhead fans, providing an undisturbed night’s rest. Touches of Art Deco furnishings add elegance, with soft mood lighting and laid-back chairs. The en-suite bathroom flows seamlessly from your sleeping quarters, tucked behind a large wooden divider, where you can enjoy an outdoor shower under the stars.
The Family Room is designed to accommodate couples with children, made up of two Standard Rooms linked by a covered deck area to create a space that offers both privacy and peace of mind. Each tent features the same luxury comforts with a king-sized bed in one and twin beds in the other. The shared deck invites precious family moments while spotting elephants playing by the watering hole.
A library and lounge area welcomes you to unwind with a book, surrounded by the tranquillity of the bush. Escape the midday heat with a dip in the plunge pool or settle in at the log-pile hide overlooking a popular watering hole — a great spot to enjoy an afternoon of amateur wildlife photography. As the sun begins to set, wander from the bar to the firepit with a glass of wine in hand, sharing the convivial spirit of the day's wildlife sightings. Wi-Fi is limited, encouraging you to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature and family. Laundry services are available to keep your clothing fresh.

A homely indoor dining area provides a cosy setting for breakfast on cooler mornings, with roll-up canvas sheeting offering uninterrupted views of the wilderness before you set out on your day's safari. As the day warms, lunch is served on the deck, sheltered by a canopy of trees. Once the sun dips, lanterns are lit, inviting you to find your seat at the table beneath a star-filled sky, surrounded by the lively chatter of friends and family.
Set in a private corner of Hwange and overlooking a busy waterhole, the action often comes right to camp — especially in dry season, when elephants and antelope are constant visitors. It's a perfect choice for families or friends looking to take over a camp, enjoy personalised guiding, and experience the magic of a safari without the crowds.
