The comfortable guesthouse lounge leads onto the extensive swimming pool terrace complete with sun loungers and a magnificent view across Walker Bay.

Walk straight from Ocean Eleven onto the cliff-top paths for a botanical stroll through fynbos and for excellent whale watching, rated as the best land-based whale watching in the world.

The whales start arriving in July and leave by November - peak season is September.

Large French doors open out onto the pool deck where breakfast is served in summer; alternatively, cooked and continental breakfasts are served in the enclosed veranda.

Ocean Eleven Guest House

Geoff Stewart

"Our room at Oceans Eleven was just brilliant, with a bath window overlooking the Whales in the bay."

Sally Kent

"Loved the location on the cliff path. We were greeted by a whale right outside as we arrived!"

All the RSA people we met before travelling to Hermanus highly recommended it when they heard that was our next destination. We were not disappointed, and the B&B was awesome. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We loved the accommodat ion’s, just our style. We enjoyed the walks to town with the kids, the markets, then dinner with the wife. All very enjoyable. We did the shark dive in Gansbaai one day that was also great. Overall a very nice place to relax and unwind. Not much going on, but that is the point right!

"Very nice accommodations and the coastal views in this area were just spectacular!"

"We got exactly what we expected in terms of the 2 bedroomed apartment and again had a fantastic whale watching experience from just outside our room."

Maxine Dilley

"Our apartment at Oceans Eleven was amazing, we were sorry we only had one night to enjoy it; we cooked in and had a wonderful evening around the fire."

Arrived back in Manchester yesterday and still not come down to earth after the most amazing holiday we have ever had. All places you recommended were superb and as you informed everyone we were celebrating 25 years of marriage there were all sorts of special surprises waiting for us. An upgraded room at Walden, a complimentary bottle of champagne at Ocean 11 and a private meal at Pondoro. Everyone made us so welcome and we wanted for nothing.

Hermanus - we loved and wished we had stayed longer - once again we had the misfortune of arriving late saturday afternoon and so the wineries were all closed which was disappointing but we went to a great restraurant in the nearby wine area and boug ht some excellent wines at the local wine shop. We would love to go back to Hermanus. The accomodation was fabulous the apartment was huge and the staff were really friendly. The view from our hotel was priceless. So this was a great recommendation, they also had excellent breakfast.

Oceans Eleven was a beautiful house. Enjoyed the room with a view of the bay and whales. We enjoyed the Hermanus area. We had limited chances to mingle with the staff and other guests because of our schedule, but everyone we did deal with was very nice and professional.

"A fantastic place, the location, interiors, lazy atmosphere, all! Can't imagine a better place in Hermanus - thank you for great choice."

Deb Brown

"Ocean Eleven... OMG! What a gorgeous room and setting! I only wish we had better weather. Harbor cruises were shut down because it was miserable. I hated to leave this hotel after one night."

Rachel Palmer

"I loved that place. I really liked the cross between luxury and family run feel to it. Our room was wonderful and we could spot Whales from the window."

Lesley Prais

"Hotel lovely. Found a great place to eat in town. Perfect."

Kathryn Fowler

"The accommodation was brilliant and we loved all of them - as Paul put it, "this just gets better and better and I haven't wanted to leave any of them"."

The honeymoon suite was so lovely. They went to lots of effort (petals on our bed etc). A beautiful view! Hermanus a little quiet at this time of year. We were lucky with the weather, it may have boring otherwise! We also saw 2 whales out of sea son which made it all worth while.

While the town of Hermanus didn't particularly excite us, we truly enjoyed Ocean 11 Guesthouse. (and as a result, we didn't leave the hotel/grounds during our stay! The hotel staff helped us order pizza delivery and champagne for dinner in our room !) This was the 2nd of three excellent boutique hotels you booked for us, and we loved them all. The proximity to the whale viewing was wonderful; we watched for whales from right behind the hotel and even from our room/terrace. Our room and the terrace were great.

Extremely well positioned for whale watching and very pleasamt and helpful staff. The place was not quite as up to speed as the others but this is probably more a reflection of life in Hermanus where nothing moves very fast!! They were very good in forwarding something I left with them to our next hotel. In places the décor looked a little tired and breakfast was not that well organized. 2 nights was plenty in the area. One final minor point the directions to Ocean Eleven were from Cape Town rather than Hermanus which was the way we were coming otherwise all directions to hotels worked out well.

This was a great location but our room was a little tied (mould above the shower). There was no Internet use for guests although when we asked they let us use their work computer which was nice of them but not very convenient for them or us. In thi s day and age Internet use for guests is a must.

The birthday champagne and roses that were in our room at Ocean's Eleven were a very nice surprise. We knew you had to have been the one that tipped them off - thank you! On my birthday, I awoke to a beautiful sunrise through the French doors to the garden and thoroughly enjoyed the cliffwalk and whale watching.

"This was probably our favourite."

We loved the Ocean Eleven. Right on the cliff-path, in between the new harbor and the old harbor. Late July did have whales, as would August/September. You may want to let visitors know to avoid the September whale festival time if they do not lik e crowds. The old town harbor area had a lot of people there even in late July and many of the restaurant and shop owners told me that traffic is hideous and it is wall-to-wall people (especially kids and teens) during the festival. So only send folks during that time if they like crowds! We preferred to be there without the crowds, so late-July / early August is perfect for us.
