Overview of Ololo Safari Lodge
Ololo Safari Lodge is situated within eight hectares / 20 acres of lush, established gardens on the edge of the Nairobi National Park – the only park in the world that borders a capital city. It is located about 45 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, with ultra-convenient access through the national park. This means that you can be transferred from the airport straight to the lodge, starting your safari on the first day you land in Kenya.
Ololo was originally built as a traditional family farmhouse but has been beautifully converted into a lodge that showcases classic African style and warmth, and exudes homey hospitality. It seamlessly combines classic safari living with the full-service and comfort of a luxury hotel.
Enjoy uninterrupted views of Nairobi National Park from the comfort of the lodge’s spacious verandas. The surrounding gardens provide shelter for many of the 500 bird species of the national park, and four of the Big 5 members can frequently be spotted from Ololo’s main terrace (there are no elephants here).
You have easy access to Nairobi National Park via the lodge’s private footbridge over the Mbagathi River, or on afternoon and morning game drives. Ololo Safari Lodge takes great pride in its relaxed and welcoming style, as well as their fantastic meals prepared with fresh ingredients from its own ‘shambas’ (vegetable gardens).

Unwind and relax, in your own private luxury
Tented Cottage
The three Tented Cottages offer guests a more traditional safari experience – sleeping behind canvas and stone walls, under makuti thatched roofs. The modern bathrooms are en suite, and each cottage has a private terrace with comfortable armchairs in which to relax and enjoy the sights of the national park. Fall asleep every night in your comfortable king-sized bed to the sounds of Africa.
Old Stable Room
Once upon a time these stone-walled stables housed the farm’s horses but have now been beautifully renovated into seven individually decorated rooms. The charming Stable Rooms have queen-sized beds, mosquito nets, Wi-Fi access, private bathrooms, and terraces from which to spot the abundant birdlife and colourful butterflies attracted by the surrounding gardens.
Family Wing
Ololo’s Family Wing offers sweeping views of Nairobi National Park and the lush lodge gardens from its sun-soaked terrace. Upstairs is a cozy king bedroom with en-suite bathroom, while downstairs, there is a separate space with three single beds and a second bathroom with both bath and shower. The family wing is a great option for families, comfortably accommodating five, with an option for an extra bed downstairs.
General Facilities
The main area of the lodge is a tastefully restored old farmhouse featuring a spacious living area with an open fireplace, a serene library, and a superb selection of fine wines from its stone cellar.
Ololo also has a separate lounge area for day guests, suitable for travellers who want to relax between scheduled flights. Day guests can freshen up in the lounge’s appointed bathrooms and showers, and use the lodge’s swimming pool and deck, restaurant and bar.

Dining
The lodge’s restaurant – The Kitchen at Ololo – prepares delicious meals with ingredients sourced straight from the farm’s shambas, like garden-fresh vegetables and free-range eggs. Bread, cakes and pastries are baked on the farm and meals are prepared according to seasonal ingredients. Guests can enjoy breakfasts, lunches and dinners at The Kitchen at Ololo with beautiful views of Nairobi National Park, or alfresco. Daily set menus are wonderfully complemented by fine wines from South Africa, France and Australia.

Ololo encompasses classic Kenyan hospitality in tranquil surroundings. One of our first choices for a Nairobi overnight and in fact we recommend two nights here to truly enjoy this lodge. Everything about Ololo will charm you from the surroundings, beautiful location to the smiling staff and romantic rooms.
