Onguma Camp Kala
Overlooking a waterhole on the private Onguma Reserve, adjacent to the eastern border of Etosha National Park, is where Onguma Camp Kala beckons with the promise of an exclusive safari experience. You will have the opportunity to experience wildlife up close as well as from above because the camp is raised on wooden stilts – thoughtfully designed by expert architects. The conical, mud-plastered central tower reflects the natural surroundings and resembles a termite mound, topped with a thatched roof.
Although surrounded by the wilds, the camp has luxury state-of-the-art facilities that includes private outdoor firepits, outdoor showers and toasty wood-fired hot tubs which makes for the ideal setting to simply relax post-safari. The accommodation is a scenic amble away for a lounge and cocktail bar and a viewing deck that is bathed in sunlight throughout the day. The lodge also has its own photographic hide, on ground-level, to capture every epic moment.
The reserve is home to a plethora of wildlife including endangered black rhino, and some of the famed big cats such as lion, cheetah and leopard. Your days will be spent exploring the landscape and encountering these beasts while not compromising on true creature comforts back at the lodge.

Would be incredibly hard to pick a favorite lodge but I think Onguma Camp Kala is the frontrunner for most of us since we had it all to ourselves and the watering hole was just amazing. We also saw a pride of 7 lions on the final night at dusk, and it was just so very cool. I’ve traveled to 150 countries and live in a place known for its hospitality (Tennessee), but thought the hospitality in Namibia was next level.
