Set in a tranquil location on Africa's East Coast, Ras Kutani offers a peaceful hideaway that is trademarked by its long stretches of pristine and deserted beaches. Ideal for romantics who want to unwind after a busy safari, the charming cottages are flanked by a fresh-water lagoon and overlook the vast, turquoise Indian Ocean.

Take a leisurely stroll along these tranquil and unspoilt beaches, or enjoy massages and refreshing dips in the ocean or pool. Explore the nearby coastal forest, known to be one of the most bio-diverse in the world, or take a guided walk to the local fishing village where you can meet the locals. From January until May, sea turtles can be seen hatching on the adjacent beach. The lagoon offers the ideal location for body boarding, surfing, snorkelling and kayaking.

Barefoot chic, just magical in its unpretentiousness. The beach is beautiful with an occasional fisherman going about his day. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have a relaxing visit.

You will be assured of privacy and incredible views over the ocean. There are four hilltop suites as well as a family house, catering for larger groups of holiday-makers.

The seafront cottages are spacious and constructed entirely out of natural, local materials to blend seamlessly with the unspoilt surroundings. The ethnic furnishings resonate with traditional Swahili style. From the elegant en suite bathroom to the large private veranda, these cottages provide a luxurious haven in true island style.

Set on top of the hill above the lodge, the four suites offer spectacular views over the Indian Ocean and surrounding natural environment. Rooms are spacious and airy and perched in the forest canopy, creating an idyllic sanctuary for the safari-weary traveller or honeymooners seeking added privacy and luxury. These suites offer a private veranda and a signature Sultan's bed.

Enjoy a range of massages and wellness treatments at Ras Kutani to rejuvenate your senses after a safari holiday out in the African sun.

The dining area is thatched, cool and comfortable and, like all of the spots around the lodge, it offers beautiful views over the lagoon, beach and ocean. Tuck into succulent Pan-African cuisine created using fresh, local ingredients and masterfully prepared by the resident chefs. For a more special experience, you can request private dinners on the beach, with candles lighting the evening and the sound of the waves accompanying your meal as you bury your toes in the sand and enjoy a night of romance.

Ras Kutani

Sherry Young

All the flights were on time, all the transports were waiting for us as planned and were very friendly and professional, so all the coordination on your end was really terrific. We loved both Ras Kutani and the Siwandu safari resort. We were treate d very well in both places. The managers and staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The accommodations were lovely and quite comfortable. The beach was great, and the safari outstanding.
