Overview

A 90-minute flight from Dar es Salaam and a 30-minute drive from Stiegler's Airstrip will take you to Selous Serena Camp, tucked away in a forest in Tanzania's untouched Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve).

This boutique tented camp is located on the Zema River, a tributary of the Nyerere's famous Rufiki River and setting the scene for amazing game viewing.

The camp has 12 stylish and well-appointed tents, a main dining room with incredible views, an infinity pool and sundeck. There are also plenty of activities to choose from to keep you busy: enjoy wilderness picnics, game drives, riverboat safaris, guided walks, bird watching and even cultural tours.

Rooms

Standard Room

The camp consists of 12 permanent tents with king-sized beds, en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water and inviting Victorian foot-and-claw baths with separate showers. Each tent is nestled in the forest giving you a truly wilderness feel. Tasteful rosewood furniture and chandeliers complete the luxurious ambience.

Facilities

Selous Serena Camp has a separate, open-sided dining room with private seating areas overlooking a natural waterhole that is floodlit in the evenings.

Just off the dining room is a wooden viewing deck offering remarkable views of the Nyerere as well as an infinity swimming pool and sundeck, inviting lounge and a safari bar offering quality wine, beer and spirits.

Friendly staff will assist in organising activities such as game drives, guided nature walks, boat cruises as well as wilderness picnics, and bird watching excursions.

Note that due to its wilderness setting, the camp is not suitable for children under seven.

Dining

Wake up and enjoy a buffet-style breakfast served in the camp's open-sided dining room. Everything from full English breakfasts to Continental options is available, while lunch usually includes a meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian option.

Enjoy a pre-dinner drink at the safari bar before heading to the dining area for table d'hôte dinner menu that features a salad buffet, soup, entrée, dessert and cheese and biscuits as well as a vegetarian options. The meat, dairy products, fruit and vegetables are sourced locally. Your meal will be complemented by a wide selection of wine, juices, beers, spirits and the finest Tanzanian tea and coffee.
