Overview of Sentinel Mara Camp

Kenya, Masai Mara

Sentinel Mara Camp is naturally enveloped within a riverine forest on the verdant banks of the Mara River. This luxury tented camp is seasonal, with no permanent structures at all, leaving you with an authentic and closer-to-nature safari experience, as well as having a minimum impact on the environment. The camp is situated in the lesser-visited Musiara Marsh area, a hidden gem in the Masai Mara National Reserve with four different ecozones right on its doorstep.

The Musiara Marsh area is famous for its resident big cats, so it is no surprise that it was the location for the filming of the BBC's Big Cat Diaries and Disney's African Cats. Lions roam here in abundance, but you will also be spoilt with terrific cheetah and leopard sightings. Sentinel Mara Camp prides itself on the high standard of guiding on offer, as well as a bespoke approach to safari hospitality – each group of visitors will enjoy a tailor-made and flexible daily agenda based on personal preferences. Daily game drives can be complimented by guided nature walks in sensational wilderness, or simply relish an ‘armchair safari' in the camp's lounge tent while watching vociferous hippos and giant crocodiles bask in the Mara River below.

Spacious tents are set among riverine trees and offer beautiful views over the Mara River. With furnishings and decorations like writing desks, canvas wardrobes, large wooden chests, canvas chairs and butler’s trays, it is easy to imagine yourself in the time of safari’s adventurous and romantic heyday.

With authentic décor and a wonderful ambience, Sentinel Mara Camp salutes the romance and adventure of a bygone era. Set in a gorgeous location overlooking the Mara River, this eco-camp comprises dining and separate lounge tents (with Wi-Fi and charging facilities), as well as an inviting campfire area – all offering splendid river vistas. You could spend the entire day watching animals come to drink at the river from a comfortable chair.
