Overview of Serengeti View Camp

Explore Serengeti National Park the traditional way: under lamp-lit canvas with nothing but rolling grasslands around you. Serengeti View Camp is a mobile tented camp that follows the rhythm of the annual Wildebeest Migration. Setting up in the best locations for the time of year means guests are assured excellent game viewing, including during the Migration’s most exciting chapters: the early-year birthing season and the mid-year river crossings.

The camp can organise a dawn hot-air balloon safari for a bird’s-eye view of the drama while game drives are the focus at Serengeti View Camp. You enjoy early morning and late afternoon drives led by experienced and knowledgeable guides. The areas chosen are always game-rich and have an impressive list of resident wildlife, a role call that includes lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, zebra, spotted hyena and buffalo. But it is the bellowing wildebeest herds that take centre stage; they attract all the large predators and make an unforgettable spectacle when trekking in their tens of thousands, often within sight – and certainly earshot – of camp.

Serengeti View Camp is the ideal accommodation for nature-lovers and wildlife photographers who want to immerse themselves in the landscape. Indeed, it is not unusual for zebra to wander between tents during the day. The camp leaves a light footprint and forsakes extravagance for experience. Your accommodation is simple and you will not want for comfort. Each of the 10 tents is large enough to stand up in and you have a made-up bed, outdoor seating area and a private bathroom with shower and toilet. Lamps light the way around camp at night and there is also solar power to recharge batteries. You sit down to 3-course dinners as well as drinks and popcorn around the convivial campfire.

Unwind and relax, in your own private luxury
  • svc_tent_inside-room

    Tented Room

There are 10 tents at Serengeti View Camp, available with either twin beds, a double bed or as a single. Large enough to stand up and walk around in, the tents are simply but comfortably equipped and have a covered porch with chairs and a table: perfect for viewing animals near – and sometimes in – camp. Attached to the rear of the tent is your private bathroom, complete with hot-water shower and toilet.

    General Facilities

Serengeti View Camp is one of the Serengeti’s simpler accommodations. Mobile by nature and designed to leave virtually no impact of the landscape it sits in, the camp consists only of 10 guest tents and a large dining tent where you socialise with fellow guests and sit down to meals together. Traditional lamps provide the lighting around camp and solar power means you do have the opportunity to recharge batteries and electrical devices.

    Dining

You enjoy three meals a day at Serengeti View Camp, beginning with early morning coffee and juice and something light to nibble before your morning drive. A hearty brunch/lunch greets you on your return to camp and there are tea and snacks before your afternoon drive. The day ends with anything from chilled sunset drinks out on the savannah to beer and popcorn around the campfire before dinner. Meals are served in the main dining tent or – more often than not – outside in the shade or under the stars.
