Overview

Sindabezi is the little sister camp to the acclaimed Tongabezi Lodge. Accessible only by boat, this intimate lodge lies harmoniously upon an island just upriver from one of the World's Natural Wonders, Victoria Falls.

With open-fronted chalets overlooking the surrounding Zambezi River floodplain and the Victoria Falls National Park beyond that, you'll find yourself comfortably immersed in nature, with the space and exclusivity to truly escape the grind.

Entirely off-grid and eco-friendly, as well as community and sustainability-driven, a stay here will contribute to uplifting the area's local community and aid in the protection of its vulnerable wildlife. The activities on offer reflect this ethos. Spend your days on leisurely sunset boat cruises, soaking in the surroundings while enjoying a picnic lunch, or popping through to a local village market. Of course, Mosi-oa-Tunya the "Smoke that Thunders", Victoria Falls, is right nearby and not to be missed. Back at the lodge, you can enjoy the sights of the resident game wandering about - a perfect armchair safari add-on.

Rooms

Honeymoon Chalet

Set apart on a more remote sandy shore of the island, the Honeymoon Chalet provides newlyweds and couples with that extra touch of space and exclusivity. This chalet also has the romantic addition of an outdoor bathtub for an open-air bubble bath by candlelight – the epitome of romance.

Thatched Chalet

Each of Sindabezi's open-fronted thatched chalets is river-facing and elevated upon stilted wooden decks for expansive views of the great Zambezi. Designed for luxurious indoor-outdoor living to feel immersed in nature, yet comfortably within your well-equipped chalet. Each is tastefully designed to incorporate natural textures and the calming hues and tones of the surrounding flora, with locally sourced textiles and furnishings.

For those who enjoy waking with the sun, the Sunrise Chalet will have you gently awoken by the glow of an African sunrise. It has the added luxury of a bathtub on the deck, perfect for an evening soak under the stars to unwind after an exciting day out.

Private Island

Book Sindabezi exclusively for ultimate flexibility. This option provides the advantage of having your own private island with a devoted staff and the freedom to spend your days however you and your travel party please.

Facilities

Staff at Sindabezi will happily assist you in planning all your Victoria Falls activities. If you’re not one for sitting still, pop through to Livingstone for a day of either sightseeing or shopping for mementos made by local crafters. You can also join in on one of the many adventure activities such as bungee jumping, white-water rafting, or take a daring dip into Devil's or Angel's pool, where the brave can peek right over the edge of the Falls. Known as the Adventure Capital of Africa for good reason, Victoria Falls has much to offer the adventurous adrenaline seeker.

Back at the lodge, spend the day at your leisure - a rare luxury. Head out with your guide for an island picnic, drift off on a leisurely sunset cruise, and perhaps be delighted by a signature Sinda Sand Bar stopover - a refreshing sundowner setting before returning to the lodge for a scrumptious dinner.

In between activities and trips out to the Falls and Livingstone, Sindabezi's main lodge area has plenty of spots for taking some time to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the surrounding river ecosystem. Take a refreshing dip in the plunge pool, drink in hand, or find a quiet spot to admire the island's diverse birdlife.  Evenings on the island are always special, generally ending fireside sharing stories and encounters from the day, taking in the view of the African sky by night and its blanket of stars.

Dining

For those hoping for some romance and seclusion, Sindabezi is the perfect setting. Choose from the curated dining experiences with the option of dining in the ambient lodge main area, or in the privacy of one of their secluded spots.

Breakfast is served at the lodge, a selection of fresh and tasty bites to kick start your day. Your lunch may be a delightful picnic on one of the nearby sandy islands, or al fresco on the shaded deck of the lodge, overlooking the Zambezi. Your dinner can be served out on the deck or under the stars, atop the water on a floating platform anchored offshore from the island. This is where you'll dine while being serenaded by the nocturnal river song and mellowed by the balmy evening breeze.

Sindabezi Island Camp

The people and workers were wonderful and pleasant at each of the resorts. Every place was clean and quite comfortable. The food was exceptional and of the highest quality at all of our resorts. Arathusa and Sindabezi were luxurious, even though S indabezi didn't have electricity on the island there was however solar power. We loved listening to the sounds of nature at night, and we are not the camping type.

How wonderfully pleasant it is to be on your own island with a small group of other seasoned travelers. Watching the Zambezi river flow past the deck, colorful birds perching in the tree nearby is just the average morning and afternoon at Sindabezi. The managers work very hard to make all request happen and are often directly involved to the activities. I don't know how they prepare the food to be so tasteful in such a small setting. These folks try very hard. I like the kind of travelers the Sindabezi attracts, a traveler seeking a different experience with importance more towards quiet more personal activities. I think I like the Zambia view more than the Zimbabwe view of the falls, at least during the month of April.
