Overview of The Makokola Retreat
Set among beautiful gardens on the southern coast of Lake Malawi, The Makokola Retreat is a charming resort-style beach hotel. The spacious lawns, endless beach and low palms make the resort an ideal spot to relax and unwind after an exciting African safari. Head out onto the calm waters of the Lake for some sailing, windsurfing and water skiing.
If it’s the water’s depths that interest you, then don scuba gear or a snorkel mask and start exploring Lake Malawi’s underwater paradise. Standard Beach Room
Club Makokola offers a variety of rooms and suites, all of which are set in the beautifully landscaped gardens and most of which overlook Lake Malawi.
Located on the lakefront, the 26 en suite Beach Rooms are furnished in a contemporary African-style and feature a king-sized bed or two single beds with mosquito netting. The bathrooms have a separate shower and bath, and have dual vanities. Each room leads out onto a private terrace with sun chairs.

Visit the African-themed spa and indulge in one of Lake Spa’s unique signature treatments which use indigenous plant ingredients.
Play a round of golf on the exquisite 9-hole, par-3 Mlambe Golf Course which is located just next door to the The Makokola Retreat. The course follows the natural features of the area with streams, small lagoons, and baobab trees producing natural obstacles.
