An ambitious, eight-year architectural project has come to life in a remote corner of the Namib Desert. Set on the Namib Tsaris Conservancy, a 45-minute drive from the towering Sossusvlei dunes, The Nest has been modelled on the elaborate, otherworldly form of a giant sociable weaver bird’s nest, constructed mostly from thatch and incorporating captivating art and design pieces.
It is a private villa, open all year round and available on an exclusive-use basis, providing multi-generational families and groups of friends with one of the most personalised and luxurious private accommodations in Namibia. Complete with Wi-Fi and solar-powered lighting, The Nest comes with a private guide and game-drive vehicle, a chef and housekeeping staff. There is a swimming pool and children’s play area. With three double en suite bedrooms plus a children’s room, the villa sleeps multiple guests comfortably.
Lying in an area of stunning natural beauty and surprisingly good wildlife, The Nest @ Sossus Villa is a perfect base from which to explore the Namib Desert. Morning drives to the Sossusvlei dunes are balanced with nature drives in the conservancy and you have the chance to enjoy nature walks, too. You can also sit back at night to a flood-lit waterhole (giraffe, leopard and hyena are regular visitors) and some of the most impressive night skies you will have seen, guided through the cosmos by your guide. Hot-air ballooning, helicopter and scenic flights over the Namib and Sossusvlei can be arranged as extras.
