The Palace of the Lost City

Impressive, over-the-top interior, huge selection for breakfast… Prasanna got a birthday gift from them. Very close to Pilanesberg National Park, we took shared vehicle game drive one evening and took two self-drives there. We managed to see 4 out of big 5 in both our self-drives and 3 out of Big 5 in shared game drive.

Opulent African decor, with beautiful furnishings and bold designs offering an exclusive hotel experience at Sun City. A definite number one for great family holidays in the resort!

We had a great time at Sun city and really enjoyed our stay. Firstly thank you for sorting us out when we had the “misunderstanding” around the dates. You behaved professionally and quickly resolved the issue which was much appreciated as it was quite stressful for us.

The staff at Sun city were all very helpful especially Joe Hektor, the GROs and the concierge lady (Sorry we didn’t get a name) who were all very helpful?

‘Our stay was really outstanding, every one of the staff members we had contact with made their best efforts to please us. One fact is worth mentioning: on the last day, we had to have breakfast really early because of our transfer back to the airport. We arrived to the restaurant 5 minutes before opening, and the staff member that met us asked us to wait instead of inviting us to go ahead and have a seat. We found it a bit strange at first, but soon we understood: we were delighted to witness the staff's singing and dancing to celebrate the start of the working day, which they did exactly in these five minutes before opening.’

It was a great experience.

We had such a great time over there at The Palace of the Lost City, Sun City. My family loved each moment there: dining, having fun, doing safaris (game driving), and others. We sure had fun at the Valley of the Waves, quad biking, Segway riding, two game drives, Cultural Village, Crocodile Sanctuary etc. But we also loved the attention from the whole staff, the way they served us all the time. From the front desks (concierge or reception), valet parking, Grand Entrance, Crystal Court restaurant, pool bar, the crèche at The Cabanas Hotel, bus and van drivers, the room service, housekeeping, to the guys at the rides – everybody gave us a lesson about serving the customer. A special word about Mr David, manager at Plume Restaurant and Grill at The Palace. He was so kind to us, because we have a 2-year-old baby and we usually ask for special soup/meal for him at other hotels. But the room service didn't have this option – another suggestion to improve their service. So we talked to Mr David about it, and he instructed to his chef the right way to make what we asked for, and our baby had his meal delivered at our room on time every day. Please, make sure he receives our gratitude about his caring attention to us. We'll be surely back to Sun City next year, and we're recommending to everybody about that experience. South Africa is now a different landscape from here.

2. The conference – exhausting mentally.
3. Entertainment- couldn’t have any as the conference was busy and was also feeling guilty enjoying myself without the kids( I couldn’t even take photos- I didn’t want my son to find the evidence!).

Thank you so much for everything, we had an amazing time. There are no words to describe our experience, it was everything I expected and more. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, I really felt like a princess the way staff was waiting on us hand and foot making us feel so welcome. We received a bottle of red wine on arrival and a bottle of bubbly with balloons and a card when we returned the evening. We explored so much and had such a great wildlife experience as well as management that was so courteous. We will definitely be coming back as the place is breathtaking, like nothing I've experienced before.

I would just like to thank you for the excellent service I received from you while planning my weekend away at The Palace. It is very rare these days to get such great service. We had the most wonderful weekend and the staff at The Palace really made my hubby feel special on his birthday. We were also able to check in early and had a fantastic room. We loved the attention to detail the Sun City staff displayed. Sun City was everything and more than I expected (and I am hard to please!).

Between the game drives, pools, mazes, crocodile feelings there was so much to do for the kids. We really packed it all in!

We had an awesome stay. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. It is safe to say we had the best honeymoon ever.

My husband and I really had a fantastic time at The Palace!

Sun City was great. A walk around the grounds of The Palace is a delight on a sunny day and the food was unexpectedly good. Our young son absolutely loved it and wants to go back.

Our trip to The Palace at Sun City was fantastic in all aspects. The staff delivered excellent service from start to end. The hotel rooms are so spacious and beautiful decorated, it was such a pleasure to be booked in for a couple of days. The room service was excellent!

Thought I should let you know that we were very upset with the way we were treated at Sun City. When we arrived, they informed us we had been upgraded to the Palace. You may find this strange, but we did not want to be upgraded. We have stayed at the Palace before, and didn't like it. Which is why we booked Cascades with you. If we had wanted to stay at the Palace, that is what we would have booked. They did not get it!! I said they could not take our money and not give us what we booked.
We did not enjoy our stay there. We find it dark, and fake!

Excellent trip, The Palace was as good as ever

I only have one word to describe our experience: WOW!!! We all absolutely loved and enjoyed our stay at the palace, it was more than anything we had imagined or even thought of. It's beautiful, clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and the food was great. The activities are out of this world and unfortunately we didn’t have a lot of time to do all of them, but we enjoyed everything that we took part in. My older son didn’t want to come out of the beach and the younger son would have slept in the entertainment centre.
Thank you for making the booking for us and recommending as you did. Your efforts are so appreciated and should we plan for another visit, we will definitely consult with you. Your service was exceptional, please keep up your standards.

We did enjoy our weekend at Sun City. We were most surprised that for such a large resort, which was fairly booked out we never felt crowded. There was always plenty of room and everywhere we went the service was friendly and excellent.
We therefore very much enjoyed the variety and excellence of all the restaurants.
I can recommend the Maze with the beer tasting at the artisan brewery at the end.

Hotel/Room/Breakfast
It was all wonderful. Room was big and clean, and breakfast was nice. The hotel looked like a castle and my son was excited to be able to see the outside as well.
I did not see all the big 5 however I managed to see 3 of them, I enjoyed the view of a lion crossing the road just in front of us.
The ranger was professional and friendly.
The golf course was nice and clean, it's the most beautiful golf course I have ever seen.
I enjoyed it except for my score.
The weather something is out of our control. Unfortunately we could not enjoy the pool enough, however my son enjoyed some pool waves roughly for.
It was the most perfect stay for my last memory in RSA.

Our trip to SA and in particular Sun City was awesome and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! We're definitely planning on returning in the new year to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Once again, thank you for your assistance in arranging a dream holiday.

Extraordinary day… we did not know the Gary Player Invitational started today with practice rounds on the Lost City course. At number 13 we waved through Mr Ian Woosnam, well-known professional golfer and USA Masters winner some years ago. He was joined by a long time friend whose last name we did not get, but first name ‘Mel’. He is also a close friend of Gary Player. That was fine and we said our niceties and off they went. From there on WE were held up with some slow play. We caught up with Mr Woosnam and friend at several tees but at the last he invited us to play with him. What an honour! On completion, we were invited for drinks and spent a lovely hour just chatting about every day things. It was a great finish to not-so-great golf on a great golf course! We did not ask for autographs or photos or trouble him in any other way… I think that is why we were invited for drinks. We shared a tournament limo with Gary Player’s lawyer on our way back to the hotel. We are surrounded by pro golfers and personal friends of Mr Gary Player… what a bonus! My wife continues to smile!

Our first holiday started at The Palace of the Lost City at Sun City – lovely place, we had two great nights. Thank to Go2Africa everything went as planed. Lovely hotel, lovely staff.

It was our second stay at the Palace, and it was once again a wonderful experience. We very much hope to come back to South Africa and stay there again in the future.
There is one wonderful experience, I would like to point out:
On Oct 16 we had breakfast at the beautiful Crystal Court. As our waiter Barnabas had realized, that we were on honeymoon, he spontaneously organized a “traditional African wedding dance” throughout the Crystal Court for us. The other waitresses and waiters of his shift joined us singing and dancing for one round inside the Crystal Court. This was an absolutely wonderful experience and “wedding gift” for us! For this excellent service we once again would like to express our cordial thanks especially to Barnabas and to the other waiters and waitresses who took part in this.
At any time I would recommend staying at the Palace, especially having breakfast at the Crystal Court.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Sun City at the Palace. Forgotten how lovely it is to be there in such beautiful surroundings. Our two days should have been four. Such a pleasure to be in a calm Oasis after four weeks “on the road” in other parts of Africa.
Must be a massive management job to staff and maintain the complexes and present a product that gives so much pleasure.
Staff at all times efficient and friendly really can’t speak highly enough of all involved.

Firstly I must thank you for everything, we had such a great time in Sun City! On our arrival we were upgraded to the palace of the lost city. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay everyone was so nice and helpful the service was that meant for royalty. It was our first time so we were not sure what to expect but we definitely left there content. Thank you again we are definitely gonna go back soon.

Palace of the Lost City was terrific, the breakfast’s just amazing. Molly loved Valley of the Waves, and it was fairly quiet which was nice. We had a problem with Molly’s bed the first night, but they remedied it straight away and left Molly some lovely gifts to compensate.

Our stay was great! Maggie at the observatory bar was an awesome bar tender.

The shebeen and traders clubs were great fun and the pap and wors at the shebeen was very good.

It was FAB_U_LOUS Mary didnt want to come home. We went to the Pilansberg and it was Mary’s first trip to a real wild park, on her first outing she saw 2 Leopards, Elephants with babies Rhino and lots of different buck. Whilst walking in the dry forest we came across a wart hog. Mary first thought it was a statue until it moved. The restaurants were fantastic with the Crystal Court just edging the others. We cant wait till next year and I will advise as soon as my overseas guest confirm flight dates. Thanks for all your help.

Yes we're home and our last few days at Sun City were an amazing experience. What a beautiful Hotel!. It must be the most incredible hotel myself or my husband (who travels the world with his job) have ever had the fortune to stay at. The sights that greet you in each room and outside with the beautiful warm pool will be unforgettable. The dining room with the piano playing, gorgeous setting, so much choice and quality of food – especially breakfast – could not be faulted.

Thank you for organising our weekend at Sun City, it was nothing short of amazing. We were treated liked VIP’s.

Everything went really well thanks and the Palace of the Lost City is a great hotel. Sun City is indeed a beautiful resort, sadly I was there on business so did not have time to enjoy much of the facilities.

Nice place sun city. We got an upgrade to the palace so we could have a family room and couples room next to each other. The staff at the hotel were lovely the breakfast high quality and the kids enjoyed the arcade and maze.

Just a quick note to thank you for your exceptional service regarding our honeymoon break. It was absolutely amazing and check in etc went as smooth as can be.

Our trip was fantastic and we really enjoyed our Stay at the Palace. The service was phenomenal and everything we expected from a resort so grand. The dinner in the Kings Tower was a great experience and everything went really well and Luke was certainly surprised.

Had a fab time at Sun City, the Palace was awesome! Squeezed in a daytrip to the Pilanesberg Reserve, did the Zipline etc etc, was amazing!

The Palace of the Lost City is fantastic and we have a great bedroom. The safari was a very good experience and the guide was very professional.

Sun City and the Palace in particular were more of an experience than we expected. Service and surroundings at the hotel were impeccable, a bit like a film set location. The junior suite we had suited ourselves and 2 girls well. We all loved the valley of the waves, excellent waves, slides etc. We visited the crocodile farm and had a personal guided tour. Very informative and we even got to touch them (small ones).

We arrived home safely after having a very comfortable stay at the hotel which, overall, was excellent. Plus points were the spa and the attentiveness of the staff. For us, room for improvement would be the food which whilst good value for money lacked any flair and/or imagination. For example, the chef at the Santorini Greek restaurant clearly hasn't been to Greece!! That said, we still had a great time at a super hotel.

Everything was fine and we are planning to come back next year with some more rooms.

It was a good holiday. SC was a welcome discovery, a contrast from Lagos. There was so much for Sean to do and I have recommended it to other parents of families with young children. The Palace hotel was beautiful, of course. The room was situated very conveniently near the lift. They should extend their room service childrens’ menu, to include pizza, fish fingers and sausages. The pool was fantastic and the spa was very good. The Valley of the Waves is just phenomenal and is one of the best things about the place. They should have a better bouncy castle there.

I have no words to describe how great was the experience, the place is really awesome!

I can tell you everything was unforgettable there. Palace was fantastic, the dinner at the King’s Tower was excellent, as well as the service. The only thing was that there was no rose petals on the turndown to the bedroom, there was just couple of candles. Any way, it was a fantastic experience and she and I enjoyed a lot there. Sun City was a fun ending to our trip. It was pretty dead so I am surprised they told you they were full up on certain dates. Again, the people were great. We met some real characters (like the gentleman in charge of the bar opposite Brown’s diamond shop) who had been there since the place had been built. Loads of stories and history which was very interesting. The pools were pretty cold but we didn’t care (it was winter after all!). The main Palace pool was heated but I guess it was still cold as it was winter. The kids had a blast in the wave pool and slides and again, I was happy to be there in your low season. It made looking out for my kids from my towel much easier. Oh, the burgers by the wave pool were much better than the ones in the entertainment centre! We did go to Pilansberg one morning and our Ranger guide, Nelson, was lovely. He had been a ranger for some time and had come from near Kruger 7 years ago. Lovely guy who wasn’t clock watching and went over by a couple of hours at no extra cost! It was so pleasant to be with people who weren’t rushing us all the time. I guess that calmness is a natural quality of a good ranger? Or perhaps a South African gift!

The Palace Hotel was so extravagant and amazing, and the accommodation, food and service were excellent. I forgot to mention that our rooms were upgraded in both the Mount Nelson and The Palace (very spoilt!). We went to Sun City to play golf at the two courses, and to see the Palace Hotel, so our objectives were met …. the courses were great, not to mention very challenging, it’s just a shame our golf didn’t match up.

Sun City accommodation in the Palace was spacious, the staff were very hospitable, services were great. Angus loved all the Arcade games and water slides and my teenagers loved the casino!!! The zip line was thrilling and there was a good combination of leisure time and activity.

Everything went smoothly and will be back again with family for another trip.

Another highlight was the Palace of the Lost City in Sun City and I would definitely recommend this hotel over the others at Sun City to your clients even if it costs a bit more you can’t put a price on the experience.

We had a great time and LOVED Sun City. The Palace Hotel was unlike anything we had ever seen or stayed at before. I have uploaded tons of pictures on my Facebook page and many of my friends have been asking me for details of the resort and everything else. I will surely give your contact details to whoever is interested.

Sun City (Palace) was an awesome adventure, the daredevil within us came up. My son requested that we do the zip slide for his birthday, little did we know it was 2.9km long. It was great! The staff at the palace was 1st rate, especially the concierge team.

Sun City was a terrific way to end our trip; allowing us to relax and enjoy the spoils of the resort. The architecture/art in the Palace of the Lost city was mind blowing. Exploring the hotel was an adventure in itself. Like Motswiri, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating.

We had a fantastic trip. Thank you. Although we were really surprised by how quiet Sun City was over the weekend, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The accommodations were excellent, with each party being welcomed with Champagne and Fruit in their rooms.
