The Palace of the Lost City
Conceived as the splendid ruins of an ancient but mythical African tribe who once supposedly ruled the surrounding Pilanesberg mountains and fertile savannah, The Palace of the Lost City is the premier hotel in the action-packed Sun City resort complex. An easy drive or shuttle from Johannesburg or OR Tambo International Airport, it makes an unforgettable ‘pit-stop' after a safari or an exciting holiday for honeymooners, couples and even multi-generational families who require ‘something for everyone'.
‘The Palace', as it is affectionately known, is known for its striking elephant guard of honour who line the drive up to the hotel where a life-sized bronze sculpture of Shawu – one of the Kruger National Park's ‘Magnificent Seven' elephants known for their enormous tusks – regally stands. Beyond Shawu rise the domes and towers of the hotel – with views over the classic Highveld landscape – while cascading waterfalls and streams trickle between them. Nearby is the incredible Valley of the Waves, where a powdery, golden sand beach and wave-action pool have been installed in the middle of the African bush. Golfers will enjoy tackling the two 18-hole championship courses (Sun City was the first golf tournament venue to offer a $1-million purse) while all guests will have a ball exploring the resort, which has 25ha of ‘jungle' gardens, tennis and squash courts, horse riding, mountain biking, volleyball, hot-air ballooning, water sports, children's activities (Crocodile Farm, Animal Worlds, Teenagers' Club and a baby-sitting service) and a beauty salon.
Rooms range from Luxury Twins all the way to four magnificent Presidential Suites that boast features like Jacuzzis, saunas, hand-carved Canadian maple and walnut and sweeping views over the Grand Pool. Guests wanting a true slice of privacy should reserve the King Tower for sunset cocktails; situated in The Palace's Leopard wing, it has awe-inspiring 360-degree views of Sun City – the perfect spot to kick off an intimate wedding reception or celebrate a significant birthday.

Impressive, over-the-top interior, huge selection for breakfast… Prasanna got a birthday gift from them. Very close to Pilanesberg National Park, we took shared vehicle game drive one evening and took two self-drives there. We managed to see 4 out of big 5 in both our self-drives and 3 out of Big 5 in shared game drive.
Opulent African decor, with beautiful furnishings and bold designs offering an exclusive hotel experience at Sun City. A definite number one for great family holidays in the resort!
We had a great time at Sun city and really enjoyed our stay. Firstly thank you for sorting us out when we had the “misunderstanding” around the dates. You behaved professionally and quickly resolved the issue which was much appreciated as it was quite stressful for us.
The staff at Sun city were all very helpful especially Joe Hektor, the GROs and the concierge lady (Sorry we didn’t get a name) who were all very helpful?
Thanks again for a great holiday and would definitely recommend your services as well as Sun city as a holiday destination.
Just a quick note to say we had an amazing time in Sun City. The room was fabulous and you could not ask for better service.
Your accommodation arrangements for Sun City were wonderful. It is a fantastic place and as I may have mentioned, we were given an upgrade to a much larger suite. We will be sure to use your services next time we travel to Africa (which hopefully will not be too long) and we are very happy to recommend you and your company to our friends and family here in Australia, many of whom are very enthusiastic international travellers. Thank you so much once again for your great service.
