    Very nice hotel, reminiscent of a private residence. The rooms were spacious and the check-in process was great, fortunately, our room was available early. We used the hotel car to go to restaurants and that was a good, safe service. We ate there one night and the food was good.

    There are a lot of misconceptions about Jo’burg, mainly that it’s a quick stop-over for clients to other parts of the country or even continent. While the city is rich with historical and cultural significance, I’d never thought of Jo’burg as a ‘holiday destination’ or a ‘getaway’. The Residence, of all the properties we saw, offers the most holistic tranquil experience. There’s water fountains everywhere. The decor is understated and designed to flow. You feel like you’re out of the city and in a retreat somewhere far from the city. The rooms and views aren’t the selling point here – they’re comfortable and luxurious but they’re also just bedrooms really. What you really need to sell here is that when you arrive you are met with warmth and kindness from all the staff. Then as you traverse through the property you are met with greenery and koi ponds and the sounds of pianos and running water. There is so much calm in the air the you instantly relax and for that reason I wouldn’t put families here – it’s ideal for anyone who is just looking to get away from the stress of life. Try your best to try make it a two night stay here so that your clients can really relax, maybe as a wind down after a busy holiday before their flights back home.
