Overview

An avant-garde, space-age design, the Spa House in leafy Hout Bay is a sensational combination of marble, glass and timber that combine to maximise its mountain and forest views.

Built over several levels to provide complete privacy, this 3-bedroom villa has a heated, 3m-deep infinity swimming pool. The lower level houses the underground, ‘underwater’ spa, which has enormous windows to the pool that allows a mesmerising view of passing swimmers. The spa has a salt bath, sauna, steam room and massage facilities, while the house has an indoor Jacuzzi.

While within easy driving distance to attractions such as Chapman’s Peak Drive, the Constantia Wine Route, Table Mountain and the Cape Town city centre, the Spa House is secluded enough to provide utter tranquillity and a superlative atmosphere in which to fully recharge.

Designed to capture the essence of space, light and tranquillity, the Spa House combines award-winning innovative design with environmentally-friendly functionality to produce luxurious organic living at its best. Clean lines reminiscent of Le Corbusier’s minimalist design blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural landscape through the use of smooth timber façades and finishes. Neighbourhood

Just 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Cape Town, Hout Bay is a quaint fishing village with cosmopolitan appeal. Famous for its working harbour where fishermen haul in the daily catch, the town is home to a range of great restaurants, quirky boutiques and fun activities. Take an unforgettable trip to Duiker Island to watch seals at play or brave the depths and try shark-cage diving with great white sharks. Alternatively, keep your feet dry with a scenic drive along the beautiful cliffs of Chapman’s Peak Drive to the pristine sands of Noordhoek Beach.

Suitability

The Spa House is ideal for small families, groups of friends and design-conscious holiday-makers looking for an intimate and luxurious getaway close to Cape Town but far away enough to enjoy a countryside-style ambience.

Best time to visit

Cape summers – from October to April - are long and hot with beautiful sunny days and balmy star-lit nights. High-season December and January see busy beaches and bustling restaurants while picnic suppers on the beach are best enjoyed in February – the hottest month of the year. Temperatures and visitor numbers fall in March and April, autumn months that deliver some of Cape Town's most comfortable weather.

Winters – from May to September - in Cape Town are cool and rainy but the days in between rain are mild and sunny, perfect for exploring the surrounding winelands and the many museums the city has to offer. Keep an eye out for whales in the spring months of September and October - they can sometimes be seen from Hout Bay beach!
