Tortilis Camp Private House
Per Person Sharing
Amboseli National Park, set against the majestic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, is an iconic safari destination in Kenya. Its expansive plains, freshwater springs and open skies are home to a thriving ecosystem. Most famously, over a thousand elephants, including some of the largest in Africa, can be found in the park. These herds have been closely studied for decades, and many are known by name, making game viewing here both intimate and unforgettable.
Positioned on a hillside within a private 30,000-acre conservancy bordering the park, Elewana Tortilis Camp offers front-row views of Kilimanjaro and exceptional access to both the national reserve and its own exclusive wilderness. Designed for families or small groups seeking privacy and space, the Private House at Tortilis Camp combines elegant comfort with a deep connection to nature.
One of Kenya's first eco-lodges of its kind, Tortilis is fully solar powered and proudly holds a Gold Eco Rating. Whether you're enjoying a bush breakfast beneath the mountain or drifting off to the distant rumble of elephants, care, comfort and conservation shapes every detail of the experience.

Both bedrooms are beautifully appointed with king-size or twin beds dressed in fine linens and draped with mosquito nets. En-suite bathrooms feature a flush toilet, basin and walk-in shower, while the living spaces are ideal for relaxed meals, conversation and quiet moments between adventures.
The house comes with its own team of staff, including a private guide, chef and safari vehicle, allowing you to set your own schedule and enjoy every aspect of Amboseli at your own pace.

Meals at Tortilis Camp are a highlight of the experience, blending Italian-inspired cuisine with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Breakfasts are generous and varied, served after your early morning game drive or enjoyed picnic-style in the bush, depending on your day's itinerary.
Lunch is a relaxed affair under thatch or out on the deck, with light, flavourful dishes designed to refresh without slowing you down. Afternoon tea is served with homemade cakes and biscuits before your evening safari.
As the sun dips behind Kilimanjaro, guests gather for sundowners and stories before settling in for a lantern-lit dinner beneath the stars. Each evening brings a new three-course menu, with rich, satisfying dishes paired with a carefully selected wine list and the gentle soundtrack of the African night.
Tortilis Camp Private House is where timeless safari elegance meets one of Africa's most iconic backdrops. With uninterrupted views of Mount Kilimanjaro and access to a private conservancy, it offers seclusion in a stunning setting. But what sets it apart is the feeling: a sense of luxury shaped by decades of experience, where elephants are neighbours, the food is exceptional, and the mountain is always in view.

My absolute favourite part of this private house are the views of Kilimanjaro. A special place to relax with family or friends, watching as the clouds shift with the summit playing hide and seek. Wildlife wanders at will so you don't even have to leave your private villa to see Africa's wildlife stories playing out in front of you. A private guide will teach you about the Amboseli area and local culture and with so many delicious meals we recommend packing the hiking boots to burn off some energy!
