The open-plan lounge and dining area spill out onto a wooden deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a chilled beverage while watching the southern right whales frolic in the bay (June to December). The plunge pool here is perfect for refreshing dips during the hot African summer. In the cooler months, the fireplace is the ideal spot to cuddle up with a glass of one of South Africa’s finest red wines, looking out onto the everchanging seascape. Nestled in the heart of Walker Bay, burgeoning foodie destination, there’s little surprise that Whalesong Lodge offers a delectable assortment of food and wine. The lodge uses locally sourced ingredients with an emphasis on sustainability to create its fare. Breakfast is a buffet affair, with fresh fruits, pastries, cheeses, preserves and traditional South African accompaniments like rooibos-poached fruit. Whalesong is located a short distance from a variety of laid-back seaside restaurants; the lodge is happy to make recommendations and reservations for guests.
