Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge lies in a private concession about an hour’s drive south from the Chobe River and Chobe National Park. One of its borders is Zimbabwe’s heavyweight Hwange National Park, and the landscape around the lodge is one of wooded savannah and forest. This means big game country and although this accommodation lies somewhat off the beaten track, it is a great choice for superb game viewing in an exclusive environment.
The lodge takes its eco-credentials very seriously and it is completely powered by solar energy. Waste is recycled, and effluent cleaned and returned to the environment. There are 11 thatched suites, each with its own bathroom, and the main camp is comfortable and well-equipped. The in-house waterhole is a significant attraction, and it is floodlit at night for nocturnal game sightings.
Activities revolve around the morning and afternoon game drive. Your guide will be on the lookout for northern Botswana’s classic animals such as elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra as well as their predators – lion, hyena, wild dog and leopard. A private setting means you enjoy the advantage of guided bush walks plus a chance to visit a local community for an insight into everyday village life in Botswana. Optional excursions to the Chobe River as well as Hwange National Park and Victoria Falls can be arranged.
