Go2Africa is proud to be supporting the Grumeti Fund charity by raising funds for this year's Serengeti Girls Run, which will take place between 27 October and 1 November 2021.
The Serengeti Girls Run is a three-day, 63 km (39 mi), all-women race through Tanzania's Serengeti National Park in which women from across the world run for the empowerment of Tanzanian women.
Contributions raised for the run will be donated to the Grumeti Fund, a non-profit organisation that carries out vital wildlife conservation and community development work in the western Serengeti.
The race will help fund these empowerment initiatives for girls in Tanzania:
- Scholarships for 80 local girls in secondary schools, vocational studies and university tuition.
- Empowerment events for 5 000 high school girls.
- One year's supply of sanitary pads for 5 000 high school girls, giving them the confidence to attend school with dignity and pride.
- Mentorship programs and life-skills training.
How Are Go2Africa Involved?
This year our very own CEO – Maija de Rijk-Uys – will be one of the 18 women runners taking part in the race itself, and as a company, we're aiming to raise a minimum of $8,500 for the Grumeti Fund.
How Can You Support the Cause, Without Running?
Because the Serengeti Girls Run is a charity event, all runners are aiming to raise as much money as they can for the women's empowerment initiatives run by the Grumeti Fund.
