The Most Romantic Destinations In the World

Romance is a universal language, and for couples seeking the perfect escape to celebrate their love, the right destination is key. But which places truly inspire intimacy?

There are plenty of locations to visit around the world that feel made for couples, from secluded beaches, beautiful architectural feats and even natural wonders. Each place is particularly romantic, helping couples feel closer and create long-lasting memories. Some locations may even be the perfect place for someone to propose.

The Africa Safari Experts at Go2Africa wanted to find out the most romantic locations in the world, just in time for Valentine's Day, and so analyzed review data from couples, finding out where they rated the most highly.

The study moves beyond the usual suspects like the Eiffel Tower (which, surprisingly, didn’t even make our top 20). Our report reveals the hidden gems and breathtaking natural wonders that consistently earn a near-perfect score from couples.

What We Did

To uncover the world's most romantic landmarks, we analysed almost 1.5 million reviews left specifically by couples for over 200 places around the world. For every location, we counted how many couples had visited and how many rated their experience as four or five stars. From there, we calculated the percentage of top reviews from couples for each location, and ranked every destination by that score.

Methodology

Methodology

To determine the world's most romantic landmarks, Go2Africa conducted an analysis of review data, focusing exclusively on travellers who visited as couples. For each location, we collected the total number of couple reviews and identified the subset of reviews rated 4 or 5 stars, corresponding to experiences that couples rated as “Very Good” or “Excellent.” To ensure statistical reliability, only destinations with a minimum of 100 couple reviews were included in the analysis.

We then calculated a Romance Rating for each landmark, defined as the proportion of high-rated reviews among couples. Locations were ranked according to this Romance Rating, with ties resolved based on the total number of couple reviews.

This allowed us to determine the most romantic landmarks in the world, as well as the most romantic locations in each U.S. state.

Data collection in December 2025.
