Africa is more than just a travel destination, it's a continent where beauty and rawness intertwine, inviting those who visit to not just witness but to truly connect, to feel, and to tell its story.

This year, we have partnered with World Nomads & the Travel Shooters to offer a transformative experience. In collaboration with the World Nomads Scholarship, budding photographers and filmmakers are offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go on an extraordinary Africa photo safari through Southern Africa's most iconic landscapes.

This journey will shape your vision, transform your craft, and ignite a deeper connection to the wild beauty that defines Africa. This is more than a scholarship, it's an invitation to discover the soul of Africa and capture it through your lens.

The Scholarship: Entries Open for Storytellers

The World Nomads Travel Photography Scholarship isn’t just about learning technical skills—it’s about connecting to the emotional depth of Africa's wilderness and its people, and learning how to capture the moments that stir hearts and minds. With Go2Africa and Travel Shooters as your guides, you'll learn the art of storytelling through photography and film, guided by seasoned mentors who have dedicated their lives to visually immortalising the world's most breathtaking places.

The journey you will undertake is an emotional pilgrimage, an opportunity to witness the majesty of elephants crossing ancient rivers, and to connect with the vibrant communities that call Africa home—all with a camera in hand.

The Perfect Africa Photo Safari

Curated by Go2Africa's Africa Safari Expert & Condé Nast Top Travel Specialist, Lucy Beveridge

While I am not a professional photographer by trade, my expertise lies in crafting exceptional safari experiences. However, I bring a wealth of experience in curating bespoke photographic itineraries. Since 2008, I have explored Southern and Eastern Africa on personal photography expeditions and have collaborated closely with renowned photographer Anette Mossbacher on her photographic tours. My first-hand experience allows me to truly understand what makes for an unforgettable photography journey.

Peech Hotel : South Africa

The starting point of your Africa photo safari | Go2Africa

Your greatest adventure begins in the vibrant heart of South Africa at the Peech Hotel, a boutique haven nestled in Johannesburg's leafy suburbs. It's a place where modernity meets nature, and where your senses begin to attune to Africa's rhythm. The Peech Hotel, with its eco-conscious ethos, stylish architecture, and lush gardens, is the perfect starting point for your journey. It offers more than just a night's stay—it's an invitation to slow down, to observe, and to let your creativity awaken.

Chobe Bakwena: Botswana

The next leg of this Africa safari photo journey brings you to Chobe Bakwena, where the Chobe River flows with a quiet strength, teeming with life. The camp's eco-conscious design harmonises with the landscape, creating a setting where every moment feels like a scene from an African dream. This is where the dance of Africa's wildlife plays out in full view—the largest herds of elephants you've ever seen, drinking from the river's edge, hippos surfacing with an indignant snort, and crocodiles lying in wait.

Insika Lodge: Victoria Falls

From the wilds of the bush to the iconic spectacle of Victoria Falls, your photo safari brings you to Insika Lodge, tucked away within reach of the Zambezi River. Here, where the mighty falls echo through the landscape, nature's grandeur unfolds at its peak.

During your stay at Insika Lodge, you’ll have the chance to frame both the intensity and tranquility of this landmark. In the early morning, when mist rises and sunlight glances through, rainbows stretch across the roaring waters, creating scenes to inspire any photographer. Insika Lodge, blending elegance with rustic charm, becomes a serene retreat after a day of photographic immersion. As you unwind by the river, immersed in the sounds of the Zambezi, you'll find a balance between the thrill of capturing Africa's power and moments of quiet reflection, allowing you not only to document the continent's beauty but to feel its essence deeply.

Lion Sands Narina Lodge: Kruger

An exceptional leopard sighting | Lion Sands Narina Lodge

Your Africa photo safari continues at Lion Sands Narina Lodge, perched on the banks of the Sabie River, deep within Kruger National Park. The lodge's elevated tree-house-style suites provide a perfect vantage point for capturing the untamed beauty of the surrounding wilderness. With private decks offering uninterrupted views of the river, your lens is constantly drawn to the wildlife that comes to drink—elephants, buffalo, and sometimes even lions making their way through the dense bush.

Lion Sands Narina Lodge is designed for those looking to connect intimately with nature through their cameras. Every game drive is an opportunity to frame Africa's raw beauty—from the dappled coat of a leopard prowling through the trees to a herd of elephants crossing the river at sunrise. The lodge's expert guides, with their deep knowledge of animal behaviour, help you anticipate the perfect moment, ensuring your shots are nothing short of spectacular.

Lion Sands River Lodge: Kruger

The final leg of your journey takes you to Lion Sands River Lodge, where your camera becomes your closest companion as you explore the dynamic landscapes of the Kruger. Set along the Sabie River, the lodge's open-plan design invites the wilderness into every frame. The expansive decks, airy interiors, and floor-to-ceiling windows make it easy to photograph the ever-changing light and movement of the bush.

Here, photography takes centre stage. With morning and evening game drives designed to showcase the best light, you'll have countless opportunities to capture iconic African wildlife—from a pride of lions basking in the golden hour to a pod of hippos wading through the river. The lodge's guides and trackers understand the needs of photographers, ensuring you're always in the right place at the right time to capture dramatic action shots or serene landscapes. Between safaris, take time to photograph the tranquil beauty of the lodge itself, or snap candid moments of wildlife wandering close to the property.
