Role introduction

Go2Africa is looking for an ambitious Social Media Specialist to manage and grow our organic social media activity, and use the channel to support our lead-growth targets.


The goal is to gradually increase customer engagement, website traffic and enquiries by inputting to an executing our social media marketing strategy. The role requires a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. You are responsible for joining relevant conversations on behalf of the brand and “soft selling” the product by providing support to current and prospective customers.


The role sits within the Marketing team and is based in our Cape Town office. We currently have a hybrid working system with 1-2 days per week in the office and the remainder remote working.

Candidate requirements



  • At least 2 years in a similar role, running campaigns on Facebook and Instagram
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
  • Good understanding of Google Analytics



  • Experience of working in travel, safaris or luxury goods industries
  • Experience of running campaigns in a commercial environment
  • Experience of managing campaigns across multiple platforms (Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • A second European language




  • Relevant Digital Marketing certifications



  • Degree or Diploma Marketing, or another relevant Tertiary qualification

Functional responsibilities

  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
  • Create quality graphics, videos and reels using Canva/Magisto or similar
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Optimize company pages within each platform to increase the visibility of company’s social content
  • Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community
  • Create editorial calendars and syndication schedules
  • Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
  • Work closely and efficiently with the Marketing team, ensuring all social media communications are accurate and up to date with business timelines and priorities
  • Collaborate with other departments (customer relations, sales etc) to manage reputation, identify key players and coordinate actions
  • Execute monthly reporting for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest
