The Bushcamp Company

The Bushcamp Company is the largest photographic safari operator inside South Luangwa National Park — and one of the most respected safari brands in Africa. Founded in 1999, the company operates eight camps in South Luangwa: iconic and award-winning Mfuwe Lodge, the private villa camp KuKaya, and six intimate luxury bushcamps set deep within a 140,000-acre exclusive wilderness area in the park's southern sector.

Since 2023, the company has been owned by Brooke and Corby Robertson, a U.S.-based family with a long personal history in the Luangwa Valley. Under their stewardship, The Bushcamp Company has invested in camp renovation, conservation initiatives, and community programs – while preserving the guides, camps, and guest experience that built its reputation.

South Luangwa is the birthplace of the walking safari – and The Bushcamp Company has been its most consistent practitioner. Guests at the six remote bushcamps move through 140,000 acres of exclusive wilderness on foot, by vehicle, and under the stars – guided by some of the most experienced safari guides in Zambia. Mfuwe Lodge serves as the gateway to the circuit, and is famous worldwide for the elephant herds that walk through the lodge each year between October and December.

The Robertson family also co-founded the Zambia Wildlife and Community Foundation (ZWCF), a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit funding anti-poaching, borehole drilling, and community programs across the Luangwa Valley. Every guest that spends a night contributes directly to that work.
